Summary
“Catwalk Portraits” is an artistic performance event conceived and executed by the international artist Morwen (based in Barcelona, Spain), wearing a custom-made special dress displaying original artworks, taking place in different countries. Лондон is the chosen city to officially launch this event on the 11th of December 2010. The performance involves a walking tour of the artist around the most touristic spots in London. The starting point will be the Nelson’s column in Trafalgar Square, 11:00 am.

The Catwalk Portraits project
Catwalk Portraits sends out a dynamic, vibrant and fresh message: a fun, eye-catching and original way to live and share art, by personally taking it (and wearing it) out to the streets. The dress (custom-created by the talented Italian fashion designer Carmela Rosciano) has a semi-rigid structure, evoking a Victorian court dress. This Дизайн provides a wide art display area, aiming to increase the visual impact while the artist walks around different Популярное places in London. By further developing her own interpretation of art as a vibrant and expressive life style, Morwen has created Catwalk Portraits as a unique kind of self-expression and theatrical art performance. With Catwalk Portraits, Morwen wants to evoke that special feeling that all artists feel sometimes, when their artwork becomes as important and personal to them as their own body. Morwen represents this emotional attachment with an illustrative metaphor: the artist physically wears the artworks on her, close to her own skin, as part of her own being.
The purpose of Catwalk Portraits is also the promotion of an idea: By "wearing” and “taking out for a walk" her artistic project to the streets in different cities across Europe, Morwen intends to help breaking up with the traditional idea that art has to be confined between walls.
About the Catwalk Portraits artwork
The artwork that Morwen will “wear” over this special dress is a careful selection of her paintings, part of an art exhibition she is hosting from the 30th of November in Barcelona. The name of this art exhibition is "21 Portraits", and is about a research project exploring the personality of an individual (in this series the Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland) through a series of 21 portraits.

Catwalk Portraits: an itinerary international exhibition
The itinerary exhibition program includes several cities in the UK, Spain, France, Andorra and Switzerland between the end of 2010 and the first quarter of 2011. For the секунда and third quarters of 2011, the artist plans to tour in Germany and the USA.
Who is Morwen?
The Catwalk Portraits idea was developed by Alicia Murcia (alias Morwen), a Spanish international artist, currently resident in Barcelona. She is a very passionate, driven, innovative and creative self-taught artist, who lived and worked in the UK for 6 years, where she has presented numerous solo exhibitions in Лондон and Cambridge. Morwen has been awarded with the first and секунда prize in the Selwyn College´s art competition, Cambridge.
