Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
MIPCOM: Syfy's 'Killjoys' Stars Tease Second Season
Hannah John-Kamen and Aaron Ashmore in Cannes discuss their characters and what lies ahead for Khlyen.
The Dutch-Johnny-D'avin relationship triangle underpinning Syfy drama
was turned upside-down during the first season finale when baddie Khlyen kidnapped D’avin and whisked him away to Red 17 to make him a Level 6 Killjoy.
That had series leads Hannah John-Kamen, who plays Dutch, and Aaron Ashmore (John) at MIPCOM this week to tease the upcoming second season for international buyers. So expect Dutch and Johnny to have an even bigger role to play in the second season.
"I felt like Dutch is running away from what's happening to her, and she's trying to reinvent herself with Johnny and this new life they have found, having found each other in a very destructive world with a destructive past," John-Kamen told
during the TV industry's annual French Riviera rendezvous.
which also airs on Space in Canada, Dutch and Johnny had their world shaken when D’avin (Luke Macfarlane) came into their lives.
follows the trio of interplanetary bounty hunters chasing deadly warrants throughout the Quad, a distant planetary system on the brink of a bloody class war.
Ashmore insisted Dutch and Johnny will need to remain a loyal team during the sophomore run. "I think what we do know is neither of the characters, the past isn't good for them. So we are trying to create a family dynamic, a safe dynamic with each other. Our pasts were terrible," he revealed.
producer Temple Street Productions and creator Michelle Lovretta, to air in 2016. So look for Khlyen to remain the big villain in season two, while also revealing more cards in his hand.
"We should expect to find out more about Red 17, and about Khlyen, and if he is working for someone, or if he's the decision-maker. That's my question," said John-Kamen. "What he did in season one was create this notion that there's something bigger, this thing is bigger, and you don't even know you're part of — do as I tell you as I'm trying to protect you from something. I do hope that threat will be revealed in season two," she added.
Recovering D'avin will also be an immediate goal for the second season. "We have to find D'avin, that's an emotional thing we have to do. This is our partner, our brother, my brother, that we have to track down," said Ashmore.
is produced by Temple Street and Syfy, in association with Space, and is distributed worldwide by Universal Cable Productions.
