Also remember in New Moon,Bella jumped off the cliff into the water,she was almost going to be attacked by Victoria.it was Jake who saved her and Edward himself thanked him!!
Edward. He tried to give up on their relationship because he thought it was the best thing to keep her безопасно, сейф (after what happened with Jasper at Bella's birthday). It was so hard on him, but he did it out of Любовь for her. Jake didn't Любовь her, he cared about her just because she was the mother of the one person he was going to imprint on, Renesmee. It wasn't real love, IMHO.
