There are 2 reasons why this could happen.
1. As Ты know Edward can not read Bella's mind so that will prevent him from seeing anything that's going on in there about what ever's going on with Bella.
2. Edward does not know that Bella might skip her period. Of course he would not unless she told him about it which then he would know about.
Just go and watch the film and see how he find's out if she does fall pregnant.
