Write hard and clear about what hurts.
-Ernest Hemingway
There is nothing to writing. All Ты do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.
-Ernest Hemingway
Everybody walks past a thousand story ideas every day. The good writers are the ones who see five или six of them. Most people don’t see any.
-Orson Scott Card
For me, Письмо is exploration; and most of the time, I’m surprised where the journey takes me.
-Jack Dann

-Mik Everett
Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what Ты have to say. It’s the one and only thing Ты have to offer.
-Barbara Kingsolver
I am irritated by my own writing. I am like a violinist whose ear is true, but whose fingers refuse to reproduce precisely the sound he hears within.
-Gustave Flaubert
There’s no money in poetry, but then there’s no Поэзия in money either.
-Robert Graves
There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.

Anyone who is going to be a writer knows enough at 15 to write several novels.

There is a difference between ‘true’ and 'real.’ Not all stories are true, but all of them are real. A writer can see, and feel, and live a story in her head, and she can then say или write words that make someone else do those same things. That’s real.
-Josette Vipond
The most beautiful things are those that madness prompts and reason writes.
-Andre Gide
If it sounds like writing, I rewrite it.
-Elmore Leonard
Why am I compelled to write? Because the Письмо saves me from this complacency I fear. Because I have no choice. Because I must keep the spirit of my revolt and myself alive. Because the world I create in the Письмо compensates for what the real world does not give me. By Письмо I put order in the world, give it a handle so I can grasp it. I write because life does not appease my appetites and hunger. I write to record what others erase when I speak, to rewrite the stories others have miswritten about me, about you. To become еще intimate with myself and you. To discover myself, to preserve myself; to make myself, to achieve self-autonomy. To dispell the myths that I am a mad prophet или a poor suffering soul. To convince myself that I am worthy and that what I have to say is not a pile of shit. To Показать that I can and that I will write, never mind their admonitions to the contrary. And I will write about the unmentionables, never mind the outraged gasp of the censor and the audience. Finally I write because I'm scared of Письмо but I'm еще scared of not writing. Why should I try to justify why I write? Do I need to justify being Chicana, being woman? Ты might as well ask me to try to justify why I’m alive. The act of Письмо is the act of making soul, alchemy.
-Gloria Anzaldúa
Письмо is its own reward.
-Henry Miller

Remembering is just an invention of the mind,
So Ты need not try to remember something,
Ты remember it automatically.
Which is the best thing that Ты could have.
The good times that we had...
It is placed in a portion of your mind.
The bad times that we had...
It is placed in the other part of your mind.
Ты try to forget all of the bad things that happened,
But it is not possible.
It is stuck in you.
The bad things are painted in ink on your heart.
The good things, Ты try to remember.
And they stay.
They never go.
Never leave you.
Remembering is just an invention of the mind.
And, well...I guess I'm happy for that.
So I can remember every friend I've had,
Every boyfriend,
And all the good times.
Every memory will never leave my heart.
They will never be forsaken.
Never.
So Ты need not try to remember something,
Ты remember it automatically.
Which is the best thing that Ты could have.

Different in ways they couldn't control
Killed for reasons we do not know
Ranging from ages young to old
The innocent people were taken from homes
Soulless people did not care
That the Jewish were in despair
Concentration camps ending their screams
Breaking apart their families
Not once did they do anything wrong
They opened their mouths and sang a sad song
Years went by and еще pain came
Until on one very special day
As one we all saved
The survivors of the Holocaust
