What are Благодарности for?

I see them on profiles but i'm scared to give someone one....
What's it for and what does it do?

It's meant to be a reward for good contributions. Say Ты like a video someone has uploaded, Ты post a Комментарий on their Стена about this and give a благодарность for videos. Some people just add Благодарности to all Стена Комментарии though. Some of those at least try to see what the person has contributed, and give relevant Благодарности even if the message isn't благодарность related.

Don't Удалить the благодарность in your wall, I did that once and I Остаться в живых my props.

Do Ты mean Удалить the Стена post containing the prop, unknown99? I guess that would Удалить the благодарность too.
