End of Chapter 12

"Carlisle?" James asked, I could almost make out his face in the light that poured down the grate.

"Go! Tell the others." I yelled as the vampire took another step, closing the distance between us to mere feet.

"You are not afraid?" It asked as it stepped Далее to where I stood.

"You lie," He laughed as he rested a hand on my shoulder. "You should have listened to my warning Carlisle."

I was about to say something when I heard the sound of James coming back down the ladder, and while I looked up the best took advantage and attacked me. Chapter 13

I opened my eyes enough to see the beast[/b] carrying James back down the tunnels. I tried to get up and follow him and do anything in my power to get him back, but when I sat up the огонь in my throat reached a whole new level..the pain so intense that everything faded black. When I came to there was no light coming from the shaft above me, I reached one hand up and felt along my neck, my hand coming back sticky with blood. I knew I had to get out of the sewers, that the vampire had taken James and for all I knew he was going to come back and get me.

I pulled myself over to the ladder, as my entire body throbbed..it felt as if I had gone a few miles, but in reality I had only moved the few inches to my left. As I reached the ladder something changed, the pain I was feeling in my throat was replaced by a burning that began in my toes and spread to my hands. I could barely grasp the rungs, my hands burning to the point that it felt like I was holding burning pokers instead of cold metal. I gasped and screamed as I pulled myself up, forcing my way through the pain until I reached the top.

Once above ground I began to wonder what to do, I wasn't sure if I should go to my father and tell him about all the horrible things that had happened или if I should go try and find the group that went down on the other side of the sewer. I decided that the best option would be to start making my way to my fathers house, to alert him.

I thought back, trying to remember the entire fight. I remembered it lunging for me, knocking me to the ground..my head spinning...I must have hit my head. I tried to focus on the little memories, and for some reason I remembered something I hadn't noticed before. I remembered the vampire cutting my throat with..something, then a searing pain. I closed my eyes and tried to focus on when [i]it was close to me...I remembered a strange sensation of pressure on my neck where the wound was and..the monstrosity laughing at me. The horror of that caused me to stumble again, my weak legs collapsing underneath me. What had he meant that I was going to be like him? I gasped as I pulled my hand back from my neck, stifling a scream as I realized it was coated in my own blood. What had he meant? I was going to be like him? I was damned?
