End of Chapter 12
"Carlisle?" James asked, I could almost make out his face in the light that poured down the grate.
"Go! Tell the others." I yelled as the vampire took another step, closing the distance between us to mere feet.

I knew I had to get out of the sewers, that the vampire had taken James and for all I knew he was going to come back and get me.
I pulled myself over to the ladder, as my entire body throbbed..it felt as if I had gone a few miles, but in reality I had only moved the few inches to my left. As I reached the ladder something changed, the pain I was feeling in my throat was replaced by a burning that began in my toes and spread to my hands. I could barely grasp the rungs, my hands burning to the point that it felt like I was holding burning pokers instead of cold metal. I gasped and screamed as I pulled myself up, forcing my way through the pain until I reached the top.
Once above ground I began to wonder what to do, I wasn't sure if I should go to my father and tell him about all the horrible things that had happened или if I should go try and find the group that went down on the other side of the sewer. I decided that the best option would be to start making my way to my fathers house, to alert him.

The horror of that caused me to stumble again, my weak legs collapsing underneath me. What had he meant that I was going to be like him? I gasped as I pulled my hand back from my neck, stifling a scream as I realized it was coated in my own blood. What had he meant? I was going to be like him? I was damned?
