Assemblywoman Choi Min Hee proposes a \'JYJ Law\' to stop blacklisting artists without a justifiable reason
Assemblywoman Choi Min Hee recently proposed a bill to prevent banning, or \'blacklisting,\' specific entertainers and artists from appearing on broadcast without a justifiable reason. This bill will be called the \'JYJ Law.\'
The bill was proposed on April 13 by assemblywoman Choi Min Hee who outlined the controversy and lawsuit between

Assemblywoman Choi Min Hee stated, "Although The Korea Fair Trade Commission announced that idol group JYJ\'s previous label cannot interfere with the group\'s promotion on July 2013, JYJ is still unable to appear on music programs due to the broadcasting stations\' unfair corporate practices. Sanctions are needed against TV stations and the label who is interfering with the group\'s appearances on music shows."

Ha Jae Geun commented on EBS News, "Despite the lawsuit ending in 2012, we have not been able to see Junsu or the other members on any shows. The reason for that is broadcast companies consider the fact that SM is a huge company and there is speculation that in order to cast SM idols, they need to distance themselves from JYJ, who do not have a good relationship with SM."

Thank you Assemblywoman Choi Min Hee! Finally someone is standing up for JYJ. Granted they were sided with before. I hope we can finally see them on a music show again. It is not fair that a company such as SM holds so much power over a network just because they were sued for being unfair to their artist.
I know chances of it being passed are slim because of f*ckin\' SM, but I\'m still really hoping for it.
finally someone speaks, but either way i think JYJ are doing amazing in their own, the fact that they\'re not letting anything hold them back makes me respect them a LOT and see them in a very very high level, still i wish they could have the same right as the others. DB5K FIGHTOOO AKTF ^^
Okay, I feel bad for JYJ for not being able to appear, but I will explain why broadcasting stations don\'t wish to broadcast them (SM doesn\'t hold that much control jsyk~)
You see, what they did was to break their contract from SM and promote outside with another agency. The reason why many in the industry was against it was because they broke their contracts and got away with it. If they were to not only have broken their contracts, but appeared to be successful or even more successful than before, they\'re worried/afraid that other artists will follow in their footsteps and choose to do the same things.
What they\'re doing by banning them is to prevent other artistes from doing the same things and breaking their agency\'s contracts. While agency contracts are unreasonable, you should realize that SM has one of the much better few - if they were unreasonable, I don\'t understand how their idols could be buying cars and houses and have so much money. There\'s a reason why many idol-wannabes aim for the Top 3, not just for their reputation and fame, but also their contracts. The truly unreasonable agencies are those unnamed ones or not as famous ones who don\'t even pay their idols well.
Of course, SM\'s contract can be improved much much more, but they do invest a lot in their trainees (all those lessons leading up to how every one of their debut idols are good at basic dancing and singing at least) and their "culture technology" - which I think is bs and they should focus more on their artistes who worked hard for that money.
About time, Korea. Look after your entertainers so that they won\'t have to look to the other side of the field!
The main issue is that Korean public broadcasting companies need to grow a
backbone and not pander to big entertainment companies to simply increase the ratings on their music shows.  Big time popular idol groups appearance = guaranteed mass viewership which means an increased ratings on their music shows.
And keep in mind that music shows in Korea are already one of the lowest ratings of tv programming, the highest being k-dramas and talk/news shows followed by variety shows.
KBS, MBC, and SBS all need a sanction to have the right to refuse to pander to big entertainment agencies without penalty especially when they threaten to pull their top popular idol groups from the show just because the broadcasting network is offering the same chances to lesser known and/or "banned/blacklisted" idols and artists.
fuck u sm. such a coward.. kbs sbs mbc, you still have yg and jyp to depend on.. if these broadcast companies chose JYJ over SM i believe sm would be in big loss. They wouldnt have any where to promote their artists.. but i wouldnt want that to happen to my TVXQ and f(x) either.. oh gosh why is this so hard..
JYJ really are the leaders in fair treatment for idols in the industry. They are the ones who motivated the abolishment of the slave contract and they stayed true to themselves and the fans during all these times despite the negativity of being labeled traitor by some and wimpy broadcasting companies. I hope the law passes and they reach greater hights than they did before! Cheers!
didn\'t they say that the law case is endend ,but  i heared the broadcast stations  said that SM refuse to make her artists appear in any music shows if jyj appear as well ... so this shitty compagny is the problem why they still didn\'t appear in music shows and variety shows as well
why didn\'t she propose this law before so we could see the 3 JYJ members together on stage now jaejoong is in the military :\'(..anyway this law is amazing and i like the name " jyj law" :D and i\'m so so happy someone finally defending jyj
I don\'t know about Korea but in US it takes forever from when something is propose to when something finally becomes a law and is implemented, so it may not be implemented until Jaejoong comes back. *sigh* altho I kind of miss Jaejoong already. =/
thank god someone finally spoke up about this thing good job woman who ever you are!! i hope many will support her :D
Eventho I am an SM stan but I agree with this proposal, you go JYJ. No one can block you anymore!!!
