Also, while people seem to be used to the character of Captain Hook being a handsome and sexy looking guy, they seem to forget that the character before Once Upon A Time was an ugly guy with a perm and a wax mustache, so if Michael was originally cast as Hook it wouldn't be a big surprise. I feel like if Hook wasn't so good looking that neither he or the ship Captain Swan would be nearly as popular. For those of you who think I'm being judgemental and that I'm wrong, I've seen people say they refuse to watch season 1 of the show simply because Hook isn't in it. That should tell you something! If Colin was cast as Neal, Hook likely wouldn't have stayed around and Neal would still be alive.

I don't care for Hook myself but it always kind of annoyed me when people claim 'you only like this character because this character is good looking.' True for some people, but most people tend to like their faves because they can relate or because they like some personality trait or a bunch of personality traits from that character. I personally don't see the appeal of those with season 3-6 Hook. But clearly some people do.

Not just because of the appearance but because of their chemistry. I still think Captain Swan would have been the most popular pairing and the endgame one though.
