Yes, in many cases, but not always. I listen to a lot of older music, like Led Zep, Hendrix, the Clash, New Order, the Chemical Brothers (they aren't that old, but yeah...), U2 and quite a few others too. I also listen to music, like Dubstep and classical, that my parents don't really like at all.

Even though the music I listen to isn't even extreme. I listen to a lot of indie-type music such as Florence and the Machine, Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michealson, Adele, Corinne Bailey Rae, and The Bird and the Bee. Then I listen to some mainstream stuff like Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, J. Cole, Paramore, Kanye West (love that man), Taylor Swift, and One Direction. But my parents hate all American music. They only like Nigerian music. It's SO ANNOYING!! >_<
