They really are black with white stripes

uh.. uh... uhh.. so CONFUSED... *head explodes*

i can't and wouldn't complain cos i asked the same question before ... but it's like asking is a bee yellow with black stripes or black with yellow stripes to which the true answer is a bee has black and yellow stripes ... any hows .... a cube in a cube in a cube wouldn't that be somthing.

This question is a bit confusing...

Actually, it's really easy to tell. If you see their undersides, all of the stripes end and don't meet (and their palate includes a stripe of pink). There's much less black on their bodies. Even in these pictures you can see examples of ending stripes, indicating clearly that they're underlying color is white. It's the same as with tigers. They're orange with black stripes, and a hint of white. I've never understood how this is so confusing.

If you still aren't sure, try drawing one and you can tell easily. Try drawing a zebra starting with a black layer. It'll look funny as you overlay white stripes.
