My visit to the set happened to coincide with the cast coming out of the table read for the midseason finale. Plenty of familiar faces will make an appearance in it, but I was particularly shocked by one guest star among the crowd. While I can’t divulge the identity of said person, I can say you will be surprised by his or her return.

Yes—we’re finally going to find out what happened to Beth during Sunday’s episode. But where she ended up is actually much worse than you may have expected. To be fair, it’s not quite Governor bad, but it’s rough enough that you should worry. Fortunately, there may be some good people left in the world that she can align herself with.

I’ll admit that I’m happy that Tom Keen is still alive on

I’ll let Megan Boone take this one: “She decided to keep Tom alive because it was in a misguided effort to reclaim her dignity and her power,” she says. “She was so mislead by him. Ultimately, she was made a fool. There will be suggestions in upcoming episodes that she may still have feelings for him, but these are not simple acts of trying to rekindle a romance. She held him prisoner for months and denies him medical care and proper nutrients and everything. This is something much more complicated. It has much more to do with ego than heart.”

We’re getting much closer to the actual murder night—and there will be a huge reveal in the Lila case that could change everything for Annalise, Sam and Rebecca. We’ll get a better idea of how Sherlock feels about Joan’s new boyfriend soon—but suffice it to say, Sherlock isn’t too pleased there’s another man in her life. “It’s an annoyance,” Jonny Lee Miller says. Though Holmes is trying to be as calm as possible about the situation, “You can see she’s developed relationship and moved on with her life,” Lucy Liu adds. “He thinks everything’s going to go back to normal, and that’s not what’s going to happen in season three.”

‘s 200th episode, other than it being “musical-ish”?

As most of you know by now, the 200th is all about the fans, who will be putting on a show of the Carver Edlund books during the episode. “Meta-fans are kind of saluting Sam and Dean, which allows them to kind of salute back,” Jared Padalecki explains. Adds Jensen Ackles: “It’s walking into a theater and seeing your life in pictures before you, but it’s from the perspective of the fans of the series.” Perhaps the most intriguing tease is this Ackles claim: “[Jared] and I are the only men in the whole episode, save one person.” Please let it be Chuck. Please let it be Chuck.

Crazy, right? The show will delve further into their relationship in the past soon. “She’s been looking for [Emma],” Elizabeth Mitchell teases, cautioning that an incident will drive an obvious wedge between the two—hence Emma not remembering her former foster mom. In the present, “we will absolutely get into how she landed [in Storybrooke],” Mitchell promises.

Let’s not forget that Kurt Sutter told EW in our recent cover story that a major character will die in either episode 9 (meaning Nov. 4) or in episode 10—and that it’s not Juice. While you make your bets, I can also tell you that the scene my colleague Mandi Bierly mentioned in that cover story—about Gemma threatening to shoot Jarry in the throat—definitely happens next week. One additional piece of Gemma intel: She will also take time in that episode to school Rat on old ladies. “Even though there’s all this major drama in her life—you know, the secret that just keeps on giving—it’s interesting to see that she’s also who she is,” Katey Sagal told EW on set. “She’s that person that does have that kind of advice, that is somewhat wise in her matriarch position. That’s the writers’ good storytelling: You don’t have everybody one note. They are three-dimensional characters.”

After discovering Anya (Dichen Lachman) was being held prisoner by the Mountain Men—they’re using Grounder blood to cure their ailments—Clarke will suspect they were “saved” for similar reasons. “It’s all about getting the hell out of there,” Eliza Taylor tells me. “Clarke will do almost anything to do that. The episode is her and Anya begrudgingly having to team up to get to safety. They work together terribly. Now that she’s escaping, what she’s thinking about is how to get the other 47 kids out of there.” That won’t be easy, since Anya has other plans if and when they do get out.
