Ты know... The word equality gets thrown around a lot these days. So before I start off this article, let me get something out of the way first. An opinion that, while is just an opinion, is gonna piss off tons of people. So, get ready for it... I don't like Life is Strange... At all... I think the story is poorly written, I don't like how puzzles need to be solved, and I really don't like Max. But that's a different Статья for a different day, so back on topic. I am not alone on people who dislike this game, calling it a Tumblr mess with bad characters and gameplay. And while that is true, some Комментарии seem to glorify the female gender while damning the male gender. And while I can safely say that, if Ты played through the first two episodes, Ты would think this, but I think that most people who say this only stopped at two episodes (Which I can't blame them), so let me, a guy who doesn't like Life is Strange, defend it on some parts and why I think that it can at least do some good with it's male characters. Also, I will be spoiling Life is Strange's entire story, so if Ты want to play that game, Ты should stop Чтение this Статья right now, because I'm going to ruin everything for you.
In the game, all of the main characters, as described, all seem to be either against Ты или useless. Mr. Jefferson is just the typical teacher that doesn't listen to the main character, David is the hard жопа, попка security guard who will place them blame on Ты first before anyone else, Nathan is just a psychopath who is willing to screw Ты over every chance he gets, Franks a dangerous dealer, and Warren is just useless. Even minor characters, like the principal или that one trucker in the обедающий, закусочной are either selfish или rude, and it is claimed that they are this way "Because they are male". Now, like I сказал(-а) before, if Ты were to just play through the first two episodes, than Ты could easily say that this is true. But when Ты play further, and look into these characters, things start to change. And I am gonna try to go over as many of them as I can and see which ones really stick out.
I'm just gonna skip Mr. Jefferson дана he is kind of a horrible person (And looks like my English teacher on a completely uncanny level), so there's no salvaging his character aside from creative hints, but that doesn't help the "male characters aren't evil" argument. So let's talk about an equally shitty character, Nathan Prescott. дана that his first appearance is him attempting to kill Chloe, and then screwing with Max and everyone else on campus, its безопасно, сейф to say that he isn't the best character. But he isn't a bad kid.... He isn't the WORST character in the game, anyway. A victim of anxiety and high expectations from his father, he does the things he does just to calm himself and hide his emotional pain. Does that make him a good guy? No. That doesn't really excuse threatening people, attempting to murder students, and assisting murderers, but his actions that he does can make him seem pretty believable, so I can say that he isn't evil. Just mislead. Now, we Переместить on to Warren- Oh, hey, minor characters.
All of the male characters, both around Blackwell Academy, and Arcadia Bay, can be seen as either just your typical stereotypical dicks, like the angry trucker или Zachery, but can also seem to have their own problems in the world, which makes them seem a little еще realistic, или at least, not bad people. Samuel, the janitor, seems to be a very creepy guy with some mental issues, but isn't a bad guy in any way, as Max claims he is. R.J., the fisherman, is in a depression, because his career to catch рыба has been taken from him due to the Prescott's grasp on Arcadia бухта, залив and Ты can motivate him to keep fishing или not, depending on if Ты talk to him. All of the minor male characters, while some having еще problems than others, aren't all bad guys. Hell, one of them is a cop, and white, and not crooked! Hell, he's a pretty nice guy, so there Ты go. But now that we got the minor characters out of the way, let us talk about Warren... Or, better yet, let's talk about the two еще deeper characters, Frank and David, who I think are еще interesting in this regard.
Frank Bowers, the local drug distributor in Arcadia Bay, seems like a real piece of shit when Ты meet him. He threatens Max and Chloe, constantly antagonizes them, and always jumps at the chance to insult them. But he is a lot еще deeper than that. Sure, he may be a dealer, but when it comes to his character, he is a lot еще of a caring person, with his best friend and pet dog, Pompidou (Yes, really), and Rachel Amber. But when he is told that his drugs may have been used to kill her, he becomes broken, and Ты can see it, and it's honestly hard to watch, assuming Ты didn't let Chloe kill him. But David helps this argument a lot. Seen as a person who was all about rules and regulations, and harassing students over small things, it was later proven that David was doing this as a part of something bigger, which were connected to Rachel's disappearance and Kate's attempted suicide (Or actual suicide, depending on your actions). But before all that, Ты don't know that, and Ты probably don't care. At the time, Ты were always siding with Chloe in everything and trying to get him found out for being a crazed man who watches his students through cameras and just get him out of Chloe's life. And even if Ты do all that, even if Ты try to ruin David's life (And Ты can), he will still help Ты in the end game, and it honestly makes him a very good character, not just a male character.
There are a lot of things to hate on Life is Strange for. Bad characterization of young characters. Bad puzzles that can easily be solved and have no punishment. Dumb script. An atrocious main character. Warren. Hella being allowed in the English language. But I can safely say that, this game glorifying the female gender and damning the male gender, is not one of those. And hell, I'd rather have a horribly cruel and creative character like some of the male characters than the wet cardboard that is Max. Hell, if that character screams female glorification, than I am glad to be a man. See Ты all Далее time.
