X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer has revealed another new set photo.
The latest image posted to his Instagram account shows Storm, played by Alexandra Shipp, surveying Cairo, Egypt on a monitor with what appears to be storm clouds in the background (courtesy of visual effects).
Shipp can also be seen above the monitor, shooting in front of green screen in real-time.
This is just the latest in a string of images released in recent weeks. Recently, Singer posted a photo of the giant Egyptian set being used for the film, and teased a destroyed Cairo. New hi-res images of the stars of the X-Men sequel were also released recently, including images of Jean Grey (Game of Thrones\' Sophie Turner), Jubilee (Lana Condor), and Cyclops (Tye Sheridan). Check them all out in the slideshow below:
X-Men: Apocalypse will be depicting some of the most comic-booky of costumes yet seen in an X-Men movie. Here we have Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse and Olivia Munn as Psylocke.
In April, director Bryan Singer revealed on Instagram that former G4 host turned actress Munn would be playing the telepathic Psylocke in the film. Munn posted a photo shortly thereafter that seemed to tease the character\'s costume from the comics with the caption \'If the latex fits...\'
Psylocke (Elizabeth \'Betsy\' Braddock) from the comics
Psylocke also appeared as a background player as one of Callisto\'s \'Omegas\' in X-Men: The Last Stand, played by Mei Melançon.
Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey (as seen in concept art from the film)
Of course, James Marsden, Halle Berry and Famke Janssen played Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey in the original trilogy, and all had small roles in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
This trio of original characters has been recast for Apocalypse with much younger actors: Alexandra Shipp will play Storm, Sophie Turner will take on Jean, and Tye Sheridan dons the ruby quartz visor as Cyclops.
Here we see that Shipp is going full Mohawk as Storm in the film, a call-out to the 1980s look of the character in the comics.
Here\'s another shot of Shipp as young Storm.
Lana Condor joins the group as Jubilee (seen here with Sophie Turner as Jean Grey). Her yellow jacket and hoop earrings recall the colorful look of the character in the comics.
Jubilee did have a minor role in the original trilogy of X-films, played by Katrina Florece (in X-Men) and Kea Wong (in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand).
Jubilee was also played by Heather McComb (seen bottom right here) in the 1996 Generation X TV pilot, based on the comic of the same name. The proposed show never went to series.
Singer has revealed that the mutant Caliban will make his film debut in Apocalypse, apparently in an underground lair just like the mutant sewers of his Morlock brethren in the comics.
Eventually he became one of the Horsemen of Apocalypse. It is not clear at this point if an actor is playing the part of Caliban or if he will be created via visual effects.
The high-flying Angel, a.k.a. Warren Worthington III, will return in the new film. Singer revealed this concept art of both feathered- and metallic-winged versions of the character.
Actor Ben Hardy will play the Angel, who was transformed by Apocalypse into the metal-winged Horseman known as Death for a time in the comics.
The Angel was last seen in X-Men: The Last Stand, played by Ben Foster.
IGN also recently put together a list of seven X-Men we\'d like to see in the movies.
