The plot is really interesting, Ты get to know Katara better. Through Haru, Ты get to understand еще how much Katara's mother's death pains her, because Haru (sort of.) Остаться в живых his father. It really shows how interesting Katara is by the end of the episode, when she gives her speech on how to remain hopeful, and not to give up easily.
