Benedict Cumberbatch is tipped to receive a CBE from the Queen in her birthday honours this weekend.

The Sun have reported that Benedict, who is currently one of the most celebrated British actors in the world, is reportedly receiving the prestigious prize for his contributions in the field of drama.

Also on this year’s honours list is comedian and Comic Relief co-founder, Lenny Henry, who will receive a knighthood.

Benedict got his big break in the acting world when he was cast as the leading role in the BBC series, ‘Sherlock’, later making his impression in the film industry thanks to his roles in ‘Star Trek’ and ‘12 Years A Slave’.

Arguably his biggest role to date came last year, when he portrayed Alan Turing in ‘The Imitation Game’, a part which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, though he lost out in the category to fellow Brit, Eddie Redmayne.

Benedict’s reported CBE, one rank below a knighthood, should be the cherry on top of an exciting 12 months in both his personal and professional life.

As well as his success with ‘The Imitation Game’, Benedict married actress and playwright, Sophie Hunter, just months after the couple announced they were expecting their first child.

‘Sherlock’ fans will be pleased to hear a Christmas special of the show will air on the BBC in Decemeber, the first time Benedict will have been seen in the role of Sherlock Holmes for almost two years.

This will be followed by a fourth series, though filming for this is not expected to begin filming until Spring 2016.
