I used to be a die-hard fiction reader when I was younger but now cannot get enough travelogues or memoirs to satisfy me. Besides, in my opinion adult fiction is inferior to young adult/teen fiction.

I love fiction too, but I end up gravitating to non-fiction b/c finding good fiction can be kinda challenging. I enjoy the sociological, historical and cultural type non-fiction books.

I read both, but for fun, I prefer fiction. I still love the classics, and when I can't find anything new worth reading, I re-read old favourites.

But I'm starting to read some non-fiction though, and perhaps write a few essays on them...we'll see.

I do read some non-fiction sometimes but I rather prefer fiction. I can picture fiction in my head better than I can with non-fiction.

I like fiction that seems like there's a chance that it could be non-fiction, but it's just a little too out-there to not be fiction.

I mostly read books which are fiction but could be non fiction.

I read all kinds of books and articles, but I love fiction, especially fantasy and SF. It is true that much good fiction today is written for younger people, but I don't mind that at all :)

I really love both, but Nonfiction has to be written very well for me to enjoy it.

Fiction is the best, you can make up anything you want and no matter what, you can never be right or wrong, the skies the limit.

I mainly read fiction, but I enjoy nonfiction too. In fact I'm reading a nonfiction book at the moment: Ghost:Investigating the Other Side by Katherine Ramsland.

I wish I could like to read more nonfiction...I'd probably be smarter for one thing...It's just that fiction books (if they're good), draw you into the story so that you forget where you are, and nonficton books, even if they're good, just don't tend to do that for me.

fiction. i read to get away from the world, to forget how crappy my life is. i read to become the main character of the book, non-fiction doesn't give me that sense of happiness.

I enjoy fiction better...however, I haven't really given non-fiction a chance. I think it's because I like the idea of escaping into a fantasy world rather than following the events of our own. I need to get recommended a nice non-fiction book to read, any suggestions?

in my opinion fiction is wayyyy better
mostly because its made up and anyhting can pretty much happen and it takes alot of creativity... i love fiction!!

I actually read just as much non fiction as I do fiction....but I gravitate toward fiction because of all the neat story lines that are out there.

I do enjoy memoirs and anything by Chuck Klosterman, but generally speaking I'm more likely to be reading a fiction novel.

Non-fiction is too...real. I have enough realness in my life. I just need to be able to go to another world for awhile, and fiction's the only way I can do that.

Saint_and_Fang is absolutely right! but no, NonFiction grows stronger on me.. all the realistic things make me feel more related.. and after reading them I don't think my life is stupidly (humanly) average lol X)

I like non-fiction, I like them both. I do, however prefer fiction to non-fiction, because I find it more thrilling. I like things "based on a true story" or things that are thought to be a retelling of something that happened and killed a friend... but I really just enjoy mystery, horror, and life-or-death-story-line books. They're really fascinating.

With fiction, you can do ANYTHING. You imagination isn't limited to real life. Sometimes it's good to come out of reality. With fiction your mind can go WILD! :D

I love fiction, because fantasy is always better than reality.

Non fiction is interesting when the subject is good but I can't really take the writing of biographies for example. It just doesn't grab me. Call me an ungrateful teen if you will.

I love fiction; however, I love to learn new things through my non-fiction, academic studies within my major. It depends on my mood, but I typically will choose to read a Theology text over fiction.

I barely read non fiction, only if its not on a boring subject. Like boats. My brain gets tired after 3 minutes of reading it so I barely read non fiction and I mostly read fiction XD

I like fiction because, oftentimes, it depicts the impossible. I'd rather read about what can't be than what can and is because I live in a non-fiction world.

Nonfiction can be dry. Then again, so can Fiction. Sorry, Nonfiction. You've got some cool stuff, but I can't fly and shoot lazer beams from my eyes in reality and I can in Fiction.

i think nonfiction can be to dry sometimes... not saying all the time but i like nonfiction alot better because there are so many different types and the author can be as creative as they want

I adore fiction too. But, there's nothing like a good biography, memoir or travel book. I love reading about real people's lives and real topics. Plus, I always feel like I'm learning more by reading nonfiction.

Some questions are both...or neither. Books are like personalities, so many varied genres. And good books, fiction or non-fiction, should always be at the top of everyone's list.
