I liked r1 better because they focused more on the storyline, and all the drama of CG for ex. how awesome it was that he could make a tiny little rebellion of terrorists stand up to Britannia, or how sad the deaths were of some of the characters etc. was all lost in r2 due to a lot of reasons IMO. For example, they made Suzaku and a lot of other people so much stronger in r2, and it kinda felt like everything was a miracle now, because now Suzaku can take out an army of knightmares without breaking a sweat. They also brang back wayyyyy too much dead characters, without really explaining how they even freaking survived like jeremiah, or Nunally. However, r2 had a great ending, so overall
1st season = good storyline, very dramatic, good ending.
2nd season = very different from first season, great fight scenes, good ending, but storyline and characters somewhat neglected.

season 2 was way more sadder then season 1
