Ok, I don't know who else watches/watched Dawson's Creek but I find HUGE similarities to the Joey and Pacey's relationship(Jacey, JP) to БрукАс (Брук и Лукас) (BL); and Joey and Dawson's realtionship (Doey, JD) to Leyton(LP).
Ok...
Doey and Leyton are 'platonic soulmates'. i.e. they share similar interests JD film, analyzing, academic fulfillment; LP music, abandonment, the arts (writing and drawing).
LP and JD seem to be unable to function normally with или without the other. Both share traumatic experiences and are there for each other which undoubtedly gives them a close emotional bond.
However, when they are together romantically, they are both searching for something else (I think passion, chemistry, and the feeling of being whole) They do not COMPLETE each other. They never fully trust one another and are constantly looking for the drama...never a healthy sign in a relationship. It seems that rght after they have sex/intense Поцелуи (LP after series 1, JD series 6) that the chemistry goes and there is no buildup nor sparks anymore. This is part of growing up and maturing your relationship as friends. What Ты think are sparks are just really the possibilty of 'what if'
Ok, them not in a relationship. They both seem to think just because they are a male and female friendship who understand each other both emotionally and how the other thinks does not mean they are meant to be. They seem to think they 'should' be together. Another bad sign. Both cling desparelty to this idea of 'soulmate.' I wouldn't know even to begin in defining a soulmate but I am pretty sure that it doesn't have to be your gf/bf/husband/wife (as seen in Dawson's Creek where Jack and Jen are soulmates but Jack is gay so they are not romantically involved and Lucas/Haley in OTH)
Another annoying trait of LP and JD is that when the other is in a relationship, the other can not медведь it. They are selfish and it is only then that they seem to discover these 'feelings.' These are NOT romantic feelings, these I would argue are feelings of FEAR - losing the other, losing themselves, as both Lucas, Peyton, but especially Dawson and Joey seem to define themselves by each other. Agian, GROW UP. Just because of high school, childhood, saving one another (esp OTH) does not mean they are True Любовь Always (to steal OTH). While this unquestionably intrinsically binds them, we can see this bind is stifling and suffocating wen they are actually in a relationship and it holds them back both as individuals and as a couple.
Ok now on to БрукАс (Брук и Лукас) and Jacey.
These are TRUE LOVE. They both have CHEMISTRY and CONNECTION. Sparks fly. It is so obvious to any viewer and undeniable even to hard core Leyton and Doey fans.
They are both sexually attracted to one another- a key part to any adult realtionship, and Lucas Остаться в живых his virginity to Brooke and Joey Остаться в живых hers to Pacey. This is a bond that stays with Ты for LIFE. Crushes come and go, but Ты never forget who the 'first' is.
They fight for one another (OTH-beach scene, DC-the Стена =just 2 key examples but there are MANY more) They fight because there is something worth fighting for. They do not run from their problems at the first sign of trouble as LP and JD do (LP-proposal, Peyton runs and JD-Natasha, Joey runs), BL and JP FIGHT and they fight tooth and nail for each other not just for their relationship but for the other as an individual. Which brings me on to my Далее point, when they are in a relationship they GROW and MATURE as individuals and as a couple. Ты see the characters change and in a GOOD way. The transformations are remarkable.
Thirdly, when BL and JP are in a relationship they are HAPPY. Not so much angst, anxiety, caution, and doubt; еще content, satisfied, and ALIVE.
Their Любовь is so real, that they sometimes run from it to Peyton and Dawson mostly, but also to others. Yet, they are still Друзья because they truly believe in each other. This is why they COMPLETE each other. Their relationship isn't out of a sense of oligation nor a crippling co-dependent bind, but one of true love. Their hearts are intertwined and Ты see them at their saddest when they are 'losing' the other one (OTH rain scene, DC the prom)
