I'm confused....

Today, my grandmother called me with 'exciting news' (In parentheses due to my confusion of the matter). She told me that my mother got a letter inviting me, and other kids my age, to go visit Congress. And that's all she knew :/

I have no idea what this means. My family says it's really exciting, but I don't have a lot of knowledge of Congress или visiting there.

Would anyone here be able to tell me about it?

From what I've always understood (meaning that I counl be wrong on some points), Congress is another word for legislative. It's one of the three branches ov govornment (along with the evecutive branch ((president and vice president)) and the judicial branch), composed of senators and representatives.

Each state has 2 senators and each state has a number of represetatives, determined by population. Each state is divided into regions and each region has it's own representative to speak for the people in their area.

each member of congress has a vote pretaining to ratifcation and such.

If Ты pay attention to local news, you've probably heard of your area's representative.
The purpose of congress is to have an organized way to take every part of America into consideration and to give every area a voice.
