The things he does has a mix of good and bad things; on one hand, he kills. On the other, his victims are villains. He has good intent, therefore he's a good guy. But killing is still morally wrong, no matter how much you like the guy (and we both do).

In real life, you wouldn't feel this way, as has probably been pointed out in some form with Dexter himself. As it is a show, we get to ignore that part, but still it remains true. Even if we do get to ignore it, we should still know it.
