Why doesn't Merida want to get married?

Would Ты want an arrange marriage? Where the guy that Ты married WON Ты and there was no Любовь involved? yeah maybe ya'll would end up loving each other или Ты may end up resenting each other...She was simply not ready for marriage, heck some girls are NEVER ready for marriage and some think there occupation should come first...and in truth once married she would have had дана up her wild ways and become a proper wife just like her mother....She was not ready to do that....In her position she would have been expected to be lady like and be an example and act very queenly and would have to start producing heirs and be a mother (there goes her freedom and archery and time for herself)....How would Ты react if at her age your mother and father informed Ты that Ты had to marry the man that won a competition and had no say so in it? And вверх of that Ты will be having sex and kids and be forever tied to this stranger for the rest of your life? It would be hard for anyone to handle but she did make the right decision in the end and will end up marrying one of them, but out of Любовь and not form them WINNING her in a contest....

In the original draft of the movie, Merida chose Young MacMuffin to date, but the writers thought that would defeat the whole purpose of Merida's refusal to wed. It IS kinda bratty of her in the film, though, as she hasn't even talked to the suitors at all...only my opinion!

I feel the same way about Merida I thought I would like Храбрая сердцем but I didn't. But I don't want to get married either, not everyone wants that. I guess it's because well... marriage is hell if Ты don't do it with the right person.

At her timeline women have to be perfect. Ты say your most harsh yet honest opinion, they reply with "You aren't Актёрское искусство woman....-ly!" . And she's so young! Imagine being maybe 14 или 13 and already getting married. Ты might need to immediately learn to cook, discipline your children, clean, make clothing, and with all this, still keep control of an entire country I guess. When you're married can Ты just go outside and have fun all день while the prince is inside the home, making sure all the..uh...duties are fulfilled. Why won't WE want to get married at the age of 14 или 16 или even 13?

Honestly, the only thing i'm complaining about here is Merida not realizing that all the suitors feel EXACTLY like Merida. They're also being forced to marry but atleast they're getting over with it. I'm glad Merida doesn't want to get married so soon, but did she have to go there and TRICK her mother into drinking a POTION? Also, I wished she would start looking at the other people involved, and how hard it is for them.

Merida doesn't like having to always do things her mother's way. It's not that she doesn't want to get married ever its just that at this point in her life she's not ready and wants to have the opportunity to choose which is what they decide upon in the end of the movie.

I know alot of people had сказал(-а) this already but she didn't want to get married. This was an arranged marriage. Wouldn't Ты be a bit rebellious if Ты were forced to get married to someone Ты don't really know at a young age?

As a girl who personally doesn't want to get married at this point in my life, I think Merida disliked the idea of marriage. Marriage in her time was much different than ours, Ты see? Once she was married, it would be expected of her to be in the home, cooking and cleaning and making babies. Also, would Ты want to be put in an arranged marriage at the age of 15? (Merida's presumed age) I don't think any one would, regardless of how nice their suitor is. It's the principle of the thing.

Her whole life was already being planned out for her she wanted to be free to do what she wanted, like жасмин she didn't want to be prize to be won!
