I don't have a problem with anyone saying she's the best overall princess - that is their own opinion
HOWEVER, when they use this excuse as the sole reason, it does erkk me. Mainly because Mulan is not the only princess capable of saving a country, which is what some people imply. I believe that with the right motivation Jasmine, Tina, or possibly even Bell could save their own countries if presented the chance, or die trying. And those were just the first three that came to mind - Merida would also be a fair candidate.
I hate it when people say "the best" in anything. "She's the best because she's the prettiest," or "She's the best because she has the prettiest dress." You can make any princess "the best" based on any criteria she happens to excel at.
We all rank princesses on different criteria. I don't think that anyone who uses that reasoning for putting Mulan on top does it solely on this one fact, but often princesses have something which make them stand out and is the to-go reason. Just like Belle is the one who read or Snow White is the one who is sweet and Aurora is the one who is regal and Tiana is the one who is a workaholic, Mulan is the one who rescues China. It's certainly a valid reason to give her the top spot.
I agree with Swanpride, it's certainly a huge accomplishments and actions speak loud. I understand why it would bother people but at the same time, it's the equivalent of saying Snow White is the best because she's the sweetest. People are gonna like characters for their own reasons. I don't even mention this when I explain my love for Mulan and frankly, I hate how this is worded.
Not really, but actually it does bother me when I see people acting like she's the ONLY one worthy of admiration and respect just because the others didn't save a country. I see that frequently (not on Fanpop)... like someone will say "Ariel is the best Disney girl <3" and some idiot will reply "..uh but what about Mulan? She saved China!!!! All Ariel did was sing!!".. THAT annoys me.
