Don't love him, don't hate him. He had more depth to him than I was expecting.

I'm like the opposite, I kinda liked Moana but totally adored Maui. Dunno why...Not that I disliked Moana but...

Funny, he kinda goes in the same route as Flynn/Nick/Naveen, but his (i guess sorta spoilers?) backstory and hidden depths were more interesting and gave him real pity. i guess.

I quasi-disliked every prince from the Revival Era starting with Naveen... Naveen was a complete idiot. Eugene was so-so. The princes in Brave were total buffoons. Hans and Kristoff were total jerks and jack@sses.

Maui is the first Revival Era non-prince non-animal character to actual have some merit. He's not just stuck there for the "comedy meet-cute" aspect. He's also not a one-dimensional character...as most of the Revival Era men have turned out to be. He is more like Nick Wilde from Zootopia. So I appreciate that.

I'm just sick of Disney's Revival Era turning males into lame potty comedy at best, and total jerks at worst. Maui was a nice breath of fresh air. He actually had a redemption plotline that was convincing to me.

He's great!

I assumed Id hate Maui judging from the few trailers I watched, but I was surprised.
I loved how much his portrayal is changed from the beginning of the movie to the end. Its all so one-sided at first, but we eventually get his side of the story.
