The Standard Poodle is the largest of the three breeds of poodle. The breed is elegant and squarely built. The hair is cut so that there is warmth around the ankles. The breed may not look like it but it is a highly regarded retriever of game from rivers. It originated in Germany and most likely descended from the French water dog, the Barbet. Since this is a working dog the need for clipping is so the пальто can hinder movement in the water. Other names for the Standard Poodle are Barbone, and Caniche.
