The moonlight filtered through Foursquare and illuminated the Great Stones on which the Clan leaders would soon stand to address the other cats. In the clearing, Кошки were gathered, talking wildly and smiling at each other.
Leopardpaw sighed. She'd never been to a gathering before, but her mentor had reassured her. "It's a big place, but stick close to a Clanmate," Quailfeather had said. "Most Кошки are friendly, but not always are they."
Tinypaw was somewhere around here, but Leopardpaw was in no hurry to see her littermate.
Brother, I Любовь you, but...it's just not enough at the moment. She knew that if she wanted to survive, it'd have to be on her own. The good news was that Falconpaw was going. She felt comfortable knowing that a close friend of hers was going to be there.
Redsoul, at the front of the Clan, gave the signal and the Кошки deipped into Foursquare.
Leopardpaw instantly felt smooshed. It was as though the Clans were trying to crush her. I'll never get out of this alive! Sandpool had come along to be with Frogheart, but there was no sign of her mother, или the deputy. They're always together, and they're here somewhere. Maybe, just maybe, I can sit with them. But the deputies weren't always friendly.
"Hello," сказал(-а) a voice from behind her. Jumping, Leopardpaw turned to face this strange cat. He was big, with a pointed muzzle. He had brown fur, and green eyes. Startled, Leopardpaw looked at him.
"Hello," she сказал(-а) bravely.
"Who're you?" asked the brown tom. He smelled of BrushClan. "You smell like IvyClan, but I've never seen Ты before."
Leopardpaw held her head proud. "I'm a new apprentice, to Quailfeather. My name is Leopardpaw." The brown tom's eyes flickered in a slight purr.
"I'm Brownfeather, a BrushClan warrior." Leopardpaw blinked at him. A warrior? "Who're your parents?" he asked her quietly.
Leopardpaw flicked her ears, proud of her heritage. "My father is Frogheart, and my mother is Sandpool."
This time, the tom's eyes really did flicker with interest. "Sandpool?" he asked stupidly. "Do Ты have a littermate?"
Narrowing her eyes, Leopardpaw nodded. Just then, though, Quailfeather appeared. "Hello Brownfeather," he said, subtly pushing himself between apprentice and warrior. "How's BrushClan this moon?"
The tom shrugged. "Good as always. Pointystar really knows what she's doing." He seemed like there was еще to say, but he wasn't going to say it."
"Good," сказал(-а) Quailfeather. Falconpaw appeared by Leopardpaw's side.
"How're Ты faring?" he asked her. She smiled at him and flicked her tail.
"How well do I fare in everything else?"
He smiled and said, "I wish Tinypaw could fare so easily." Right then, the gathering was called to start.
It didn't matter to Brownfeather. The warrior stared intently at her anyway.
