Is my pet хомяк dead или hibernating??? Please answer ASAP as i am v.worried :0

my хомяк died just over a месяц назад and звезда had her eyes open :.(

Well, none of my hamsters have ever hibernated. Did Ты check the хомяк had a сердце beat или was breathing?
How old is the hamster?

But if it was Холодное сердце as in not moving then rigamortis may have set in (only if its dead).

My хомяк went in to hibernation and we thought he was dead and buried him.So if he looks dead,keep him around for at least four hours

Pet hamsters don't hibernat as far as i konw. I Остаться в живых my хомяк just over 2 weeks ago. He was only 10 weeks old :(

i hate to say it but your right dwarfs are not known for hibernating so i would guess he died... im sorry

Hmmmm. Did Ты check if he/she was breathing?
If Ты JUST got the hamster, it is maybe scared или settling in. If it is not doing any of the above, take it to a vet.

I know! I thought my хомяк winkie died too :( i was At My Друзья House and My dad left her outside because he сказал(-а) i was going to clean her when i got back.. Sadly when i Came back she was stiff,her eyes were open,But she was soft! My Mom helpes her by petting her and giving her water. And My dad сказал(-а) to burry her :( after 4 days ive Beenlooking in the internet if she really was dead :( then i found out that hamsters HIBERNATE! I Didnt know that ;( and i started to feelbad that i mustve burried her ALIVE!! Now im starting to think Its My fault i wasnt with her All the time... :,(

OMG! WELL, TO TELL IF YOUR хомяк IS...DEAD..CHECK ITS сердце BEAT IF U CAN или CHECK ITS BODY TEMPERATURE ( BY HOLDING IT или FEELING IT). IF IT FEELS REALLY COLD, THEN IT MIGHT BE DEAD.BUT WHO KNOWS, MAYBE ITS JUST FEELING COLD. ANYWAY, Ты DID A GOOD JOB KEEPING IT WARM. GOOD LUCK!

if your хомяк is dead it will be stiff and ears will be back and it will be cold if your хомяк is hibernating it will be breathing softly and Ты will not see unless close

The same thing happened to my хомяк a week ago, I'm sorry to say but it seems like your хомяк may be dead.
A couple things to check for to make sure though...
(1) is it cold
(2) put Еда on front of its nose
(3) check for any movement and heartbeat

There are some bad Ответы on this thread so let me try to clarify. Hamsters can hibernate, but it is very rare. They can hibernate if they are too cold или lack Еда или water. A hibernating хомяк may feel cold, but they hibernate with their eyes CLOSED like sleeping so your хомяк was actually dead. Hibernating hamsters remain limp while a dead хомяк will be limp at first and then turn stiff within hours. Many young hamsters die suddenly of сердце failure which is hereditary. It is called hereditary cardiomyopathy in hamsters and is fairly common. I only know this because the same thing happened to my daughters хомяк and I thought I had possibly buried a hibernating хомяк so I feel your pain.

My daughter has a dwarf хомяк and I came here to find out if he was dead или sleeping and the stuff I read is not right. His eyes were open and we couldn't even tell if he was breathing или not but I told her just to sit him on his tray for a cpl days and see if he moves. Cpl hours later, he's still in the same spot, has moved positions and he yawned a cpl times... def still alive.
