@Book-Freak: He was setting up Harry from day one. And he was too bl**dy cryptic with everything. If, for example, Hermione had decided not to join the other two on the Horcrux search, they would have been sc***ed. What was wrong with leaving clear instructions behind? As it happened, he only endangered them more, as there was absolutely no guarantee that they would have worked out the clues for themselves. As a character, I absolutely hated him, especially when he dumped Harry with the Dursleys and never once bothered to check on him in ten years, or to make his life better when he discovered the Dursleys abuse. Instead he allowed him to go back there, summer after summer.

If you mean by his power, then no, not at all. If you're saying the fact that he manipulated people was bad, then yes it was bad, but the fact he manipulated people doesn't make him weaker. If anything, it makes him stronger, giving him a power, a strength. In terms of character, I don't know. He's my favourite (along with Harry), but people can view him in so many different lights it makes him complex. I don't like Snape very much, but I don't doubt he's complex.
