In an interview I read featuring David Shore, he сказал(-а) that House having a long term relationship on the Показать would be problematic. I feel that this doesn't necessarily have to be the case.
When House and Cuddy get together this season whether или not it lasts a whole season или not I think that in the end of the series, he should be able to maintain a long term romantic relationship with Cuddy.
My main reasons for this is because from the pilot onward, the Показать has been structured in such a way that Cuddy is House's femme fatale/oldest friend/romantic interest. It would be odd to have him settle down with anyone else или to be alone, although most think that will be his ultimate fate.
I also feel that them being togtether would open many other avenues of exploration of the House character. He is amazingly guarded with his feelings and too some extent so is Cuddy. Watching them trying to combine their lives, deal with compromise, and still like each other after a bad fight would only make House еще interesting.
House has shown that he is capable of living with a woman for several years(i.e. Stacy) so it's not as though it's not possible. I think what would make him and Cuddy еще interesting is the fact that he does have all this baggage and so does she. There would still be tons of conflict between them which would keep the episodes fresh, except now, the conflict is in their personal relationship.
I feel atleast in the last season of the Показать House should be with Cuddy. I'm not saying it has to be marriage but I can see him promising himself to her for the rest of his life.
So, I am fine if they end this intial Huddyness after a couple of episodes but in the end I do think they should let them be together. Honestly, he'll never be a happy individual but I think he'll atleast be еще peaceful with her by his side. His character doesn't have to lose his complexity because he finds an enduring love. If anything, that enduring Любовь should only give the writers even еще amazing emotions for House to work through.
From what I've read even after they Kiss this season, they still maintain the same sarcastic banter between them that we all love. It is possible to write these characters as we all have come to expect but also allow them to grow in different ways. I like the idea of House, of all the characters on the show, being the one that finds real lasting love. He is the most dysfunctional and destructive but if he can atleast fight for Cuddy in the last few seasons of the series the way he's fighting for Wilson right now, then I think bad leg and all, his character will have come full круг in the end.
To quote the amazing Battlestar Galactica episode The Hub, House needs to "love someone." I think that's ultimately what House has to allow himself to really do. He's beginning to realize he deeply loves Wilson as a friend and a kind of brother. Now all he needs to do is discover how deeply he feels for Cuddy.
