ЛГБТ Article: Is This Turning Into War?

'What war?' May Ты ask? Well let me explain. In the Вопрос and answer section of this club there was a Вопрос that regarded a man. Wait, not just a man. A pastor. So yes, Христианство has been brought up. Here is the question: People...were agreeing with this man. Does the thought of this actually happening scare Ты at all? In the Описание was this: I was horrified when I saw it. What would Ты do if they actually went through with this? How would Ты react? Would Ты run или rebel? How would Ты feel if people agreed with this and made it happen?

Alright, so I am going to assume you've read it, watched the video, and thought about it and hopefully put your opinion to it. Ты may have also seen my answer but I'm going to post it here so Ты can see it if Ты haven't.
My answer:This is extremely terrifying. But this guy is absolutely out of proportion with this. No one could get away with a mass genocide like this. Why? Because first of all, this isn't the 1940's where many people were oblivious to the mass killings of Jews. Not only Jews were killed though. Homosexuals, blacks, или anyone outside of Hitler's Aryan race idea. So anyway not the point. But people who aren't even homosexual support ЛГБТ and I doubt anything like this could be carried out. But if it were to happen and people were aware that they were trying to kill us off... I'm pretty sure we're all smart enough to lie about our sexuality.

But I would definitely rebel against and do whatever I could to fight against something as inane as this. And this is why I am so close to becoming an atheist because you've got these jackasses running up the place. Ridiculous.

Also check out this video someone had on their YouTube page (link). So at first I was like, who is this dude trying to add me as their contact. I added him in the long run and I checked out his profile. It was радуга themed and everything so I was like, How in the world did this dude know I was... I watched the video and it showed scenes of "Gay Pride" and whatnot, but it also showed the people who were against it. And wow, those feelings of opposition looked pretty strong. Now, about that whole pastor and Христианство thing... I just had to bring it up. Like are Ты serious? A pastor?! Yeah dude, I doubt God is the kind of person to say, "Hey! I don't like homosexuals! I'm gonna strike them all down with my holy lightning bolt! That'll teach humanity not to like the same sex! They'll never defy natural laws again!" When Ты think about it, it also depends on what kind of Christian are you? Like me, I am a Catholic. I hate being Catholic. Personally I think there are too many rules. And every time the 'rule' word was brought up in Theology class, they'd say, "No honey, they aren't rules. They are Commandments. *rolls eyes* Commandments, laws, rules, sound like the same thing right? They pretty much are. Look up the definitions and compare them. Then you've got Episcopalian, Methodist, Lutheran, etc. They've all got their own Просмотры of the issue.

All of us have probably already noticed the violence towards homosexuals. School most likely with bullying, being shunned from everyone else, mocking. It's obviously even spread outside of that. In some places it's a little better and others not so much. With all this controversy with Obama and then with Romney...Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if something broke out. If something did...well...we've gotta fight back and stick together with our fellow ЛГБТ and supporters.

I don't believe we're living in the Land of the Free anymore guys...

avatar2012 I like your article but my one question is: were we ever living in the land of the free? In truth we never actually had rights, we only got what the gov't gave us. Honestly I just wish people would mind their own damn business and worry about their love life instead of mine. As for this pastor, it's all complete shit. I don't believe there is any chance of his plans actually occurring. For that reason, he does not scare me, he humors me.

jester616 I caught part of the pastor's clip, and then an interview a congregant did with Anderson Cooper in which she tried to defend her church. Among many other things, what makes this time period different from the 1930's is the fact that wherever you go, someone has a cell phone and can record this kind of nonsense. And then in a flash, everyone can respond. There's no hiding. This isn't always a good thing, but that's a whole other discussion. Fact is, I'd much rather be aware of what's out there, no matter how painful it is. This is the essence of the free exchange of ideas. Say what you want, but prepare to defend it. My next point will sound like a back-handed compliment, but whenever there is anti-"noise", it's usually because of the progress that has been made, and that's aside from this being a presidential election year in the US. As a comparison, look to the 60's and 70's to see the flack that the women's movement received. The more rights women gained, the louder the noise was. While it's not ideal now, it's not as if anyone seriously questions women's intellectual abilities. I'm old enough to remember being scoffed at for wanting to pursue the sciences! For a good read that might help your outlook, I strongly suggest Simon Doonan's Beautiful People, which is a memoir, and it is funny. While he is famous, he sure didn't start out that way, and he has plenty to say about how life has changed for the better (in the West, at least) for gay people within his own lifetime. I also suggest Steven Pinker's The Better Angels of Our Nature, which is a tome, but if you skim the intro and the sections dealing with LGBT people, he also provides a compelling argument that life has become better, especially after you've read what was normal for most societies in the past. Hang in there.
