It's actually always really bothered me. This community is supposed to be really open and accepting, but that normal acronym only includes gays, bisexuals, and trans people. There are A LOT of other people that consider themselves queer but don't fall into those categories. Like what about people who are, I dunno, genderless, or androgynous, or otherwise genderqueer, or people that are asexual, or have more specific sexualities than can be covered by LGBT? I really do think it's a discriminatory acronym, which is why I use "queer" or "LGBTQ" more often. "Queer" seems like a better blanket term to me.

Well they are slowly adding the Q (or at least i have been seeing it more) I Think everything is slowly being more qand more recognized but it takes time... i mean our generation has come far in the gay community if you look at our history but we arent done and i think that adding Q and recognizigneveryone else out there is still to come

So, the acronym should be: LGBTQAPTANGLS? or something like that? It's quite a mouthful! I don't think that the genderless and the others are being left out on purpose.

^ Lolno. Did you miss my post? Just "LGBTQ" would be fine, or just plain old "queer" would encompass everything. I know no one is being left out on purpose, but that doesn't mean it's not discrimination. You've seen those "FOR GIRLS ONLY!!!" picks around the site, asking for who's the hottest guy and shaz, yeah? It's sort of like that, unintentional discrimination.

Completely agree with r-pattz here. Plus, my own sexuality is left out. And sometimes people include an A and say it stands for allies???? Yeah no. When people add an A to the end of LGBTQA, it's for asexuals. They deserve representation as well as everyone else.

Queer should not encompass everything. There are plenty of people, myself included, who still find that term offensive and making it the new acronym would be erasing the struggles that the term queer has put on our people for decades. LGBT is the way to stay tbh.
