How much is the Lord of the Rings Movie Trilogy like the original Tolkien novels? How Faithful was Jackson to Tolkein?

Different parts of the Фильмы are like and unlike the books, though it depends on which scenes. Some scenes have been completely made up. From memory, I'll give Ты some examples which shall probably be mostly from the first movie.
The scene at the beginning of the first movie (explaining Sauron and the Last Alliance) wasn't in the book; that information was collected gradually in the book.
