This takes place when Mac and Stella are in high school and Mac is dating Peyton Driscoll at the time. Relax, this is a Smacked story. I was inspired to write this one-shot when I was driving earlier and listening to “You Belong with Me” by Taylor Swift. So the lyrics in this are by her. The song reminded me of Stella and Mac and when he was with Peyton. I don’t know I just wanted to write about those three so here it is.
Ты Belong with Me
“Hey Mac what are Ты up too? Oh sorry didn’t realize Ты were on the phone.”
Stella Bonasera sits down Далее to her best friend, Mac Taylor and waits for him to finish his conversation with the other person on the phone.
“You're on the phone
With your girlfriend
She's upset
She's going off about
Something that Ты said
'cause she doesn't get your humor
Like I do”
“Sorry Stella that was Peyton she’s upset about a joke I made earlier today apparently I hurt her feelings.”
“Eh Mac your jokes are always so funny what could Ты have possibly сказал(-а) to have made her so upset?”
“I don’t know she’s so sensitive I never really know what to say around her.”
Stella thinks to herself she would never behave around Mac the way that Peyton does.

It's a typical Tuesday night

Stella sat alone in her room thinking to herself. She holds a picture of her and Mac at a баскетбол game. One of their Друзья snapped a picture of them that was really cute. This was before Peyton Driscoll came along and украл, палантин Mac away from her. Stella is listening to фургон, ван Halen, one of Mac’s Избранное bands, a band she knows Peyton hates. She keeps thinking that she knows everything about Mac Taylor since she has known him for three years and been Друзья with him since their first meeting.

It’s the homecoming game pep rally and Mac is sitting down in a chair on the gym floor with his fellow football teammates. Peyton is in the middle of the gym with the rest of the cheerleading squad getting the crowd pumped up for the night’s game. She’s wearing a ridiculously short cheerleading юбка one that makes Stella think she looks like a whore. Stella sits up in the bleachers of the gymnasium with her Def Leppard t-shirt staring at her best friend in his red number twenty-three football jersey. She starts to dream about the день she and Mac will be together as a couple not just as friends.

Stella thinks to herself, “Oh Mac why can’t Ты see I understand you. I get you. Ты belong with me damnit, not her.”

Later that night Mac and Stella walk down the улица, уличный close to the football field before the big game. Mac has on his jersey and a faded pair of worn out blue jeans. He looks so sexy. They stop by a bench and sit down. Stella starts laughing at something Mac just said, something that would probably upset Peyton but she doesn’t care. She just loves being around him and thinks to herself that they make since and should be together.

Mac smiles widely at Stella laughing at him. “Whoa, is that a Mac Taylor smile? I thought Ты forgot how to do that!” “Funny Bonasera!” Stella looks Mac dead in the eyes and asks, “Mac why are Ты with Peyton I mean what’s so great about her?” “I don’t know Stella she’s smart, funny, nice and great to look at. I just really like her.”
“Just asking.” Stella says with a hint of disappointment.
“She wears high heels
I wear sneakers
She's cheer captain

During half-time five senior girls are nominated for Homecoming Queen and Peyton is one of them. She steps out onto the field wearing a beautiful blue dress and black high heels. She is escorted by Mac who is a Homecoming King nominee. Stella watches from the bleachers wearing her red Adidas sneakers wishing it was her down there on the field with Mac. “Why can’t he just wake up and realize that we should be together? We make sense and adore each other.”

At the end of the game the crowd clears from the stands after they had won the game. Stella walks down to her car to wait for Mac to congratulate him on winning and being elected Homecoming King. “Damnit Mac why can’t Ты see Ты belong with me. I understand Ты and accept Ты for all of your flaws and your good points. I can’t help it I’m in Любовь with my best friend.”

Stella thinks back to a night not too long назад when Mac drove to her house in the middle of the night on a Saturday because he was having a hard time and needed someone to talk too. Stella invited him up to her room and cracked a joke which made him laugh and then she turned on one of his Избранное songs on the radio. They started to have a conversation and Mac told her about his dreams of becoming a Marine. Stella just listened in awe and encouraged him to go for his dreams. When he left for the Marines she wanted to be the one to say goodbye to him and to see him off because she belonged with him at his side.

“Why can’t he just see that we belong with each other? I’ve waited for so long to be with him and it will happen he has to get rid of Peyton.”

“Sure, Stella what is it?”
“Well I was just…Will Ты go out with me dump Peyton and go out with me? Truth is I’m in Любовь with Ты Mac and have been for a long time. Ты belong with me not Peyton. Please Mac?”
“You know Stella since Ты just сказал(-а) that everything makes sense. Peyton and me we have fun but the truth is no one gets to me the way Ты do. Ты make me laugh, you’re smart, funny, sexy, but the best part of all is you’re my best friend. I’ve never really noticed it but we do make sense.”
