TMZ has learned Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood is on the hunt for a film print of the 1988 cult classic ... after MJ Фаны flooded the A.C. Facebook page with the challenging request.
According to reports, "Moonwalker" was never theatrically released in America because of failed negotiations with U.S. movie distributors back in the день ... however the flick was eventually released in The States on VHS.
FYI -- "Moonwalker" featured a super-iconic 25-minute featurette for "Smooth Criminal" ... which included an awesome cameo by Joe Pesci.

According to Rolling Stone, Jackson has approximately 100 still-unreleased songs from throughout his career -- and the Jackson Estate has already inked a $250 million deal with Sony to release them over the Далее seven years ... along with reissues of the MJ classics.
Among the unreleased tracks are collaborations with Akon, Will.i.am and Ne-Yo.
The album is due out in November.

According to the LAPD, there will be 30 to 40 officers -- some uniformed, some undercover -- patrolling a one block area around the Jackson Главная on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
We're also told other precautions will be taken -- including "no parking" signs around the house and a ban on all MJ merch sales in the area ... the same rules that will be enforced at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The LAPD says 3,000 to 4,000 shirts were confiscated last год after Michael died -- so you've been warned.

As we previously reported, Forest Lawn Cemetery -- where Jackson is entombed -- claims they've adopted a new policy in which security is instructed to remove anyone hanging out in front of the King of Pop's mausoleum.
But a rep for Justice4MJ -- the Фан group organizing the mass pilgrimage -- tells TMZ they are "absolutely" still going to visit the singer's burial place on the big день .. June 25th.
