The music can be perfectly nuanced to elicit just the right emotion but if the actor can't depict that emotion, then the whole scene just falls flat. The music suddenly seems overly dramatic because I'm just not feeling what the character is supposed to be feeling.

I agree fanfly. But I think the music is very important aswell. For example in Titanic, even though the acting is great, the music is what got to me the most.

Oh music is definitely important too and adds a lot to any movie. I mean, I adore soundtracks- I have a big collection of them. But the actor's skill is what draws me into a scene. And although the music can support a scene, it just can't carry it IMO.

Like Sunshine for example. That is the most beautiful movie score ever. No actor's talent can top that.

Like fanfly said, music is an important part to a film but I feel that the actor's talent is much more crucial to a film. I mean, if an actor can't deliver the emotion they are supposed to be feeling then the audience won't believe it and the scene just falls apart. There's only so much music can do for a film, it's really up to the actor's to create the moods and make the whole film run smoothly.
