this is my assumption anyway, cuz they left it sort of seeming like they were taking a trip and would be back, i assume there will be some sort of explanation at the beginning of s7 as to why they are gone

i think they will explain it better in season 7 although a lot of characters come and go on this show with no explanation i wouldn't be surprised if that happened.

but the thing is when they finished filming, it was still indefinite that chilarie wasn't coming back. they were most likely not coming back, but they were still negotiating. so i assume that if they did that they would have 0 chance of having them back. so this way they leave it open. and next season we will find out that hey! leyton nd baby are going on a road trip for a year! (or however long a season is)

thats true but they write the episode long before they even filmed it so when Mark wrote it they were still in negations and nothing was official thats why it was an open ended ending and probably in the season premiere they went to live with Karen

OMG I just asked this! Where the hell did they go?

I'm well aware that Chilarie were still negotiating while filming the finale, but having them move, or go on some sort of extended vacation wouldn't leave 0 chance for their return. Only killing them off would. So I don't see why there couldn't have been a more formal goodbye - even if at the time it wasn't solidified.

anyhow, yeah, it'll be mentioned in season 7 - which is stupid. Leyton/Chilarie deserved a better goodbye than that :(

i assumed it and then when i was on the website for the music by episode and it tells you what scene, for the last song under the description it said "peyton and lucas leave tree hill" so yeah.
but next season they'll probably mention it and say like why or something. maybe they went to live with karen who knows :/
