Most "Penny Dreadful" fans know the handsome Reeve Carney only as the sinister yet compelling character Dorian Gray in Showtime\'s hit television show.

However, if you\'d like to learn more about this talented actor, then make sure that you check out Fashion&Style\'s list of the five things that you didn\'t know about the charismatic Carney!

DuJour, Carney admits that he was drawn to the role of Dorian Gray after reading a script for "Penny Dreadful" and instantly falling in love with the show\'s "poetic writing."

He was also thrilled when he saw that John Logan had assembled such a talented cast and instantly knew that he had to be a part of the series too.

The "Penny Dreadful" star told Out Magazine that he\'s a big fan of "Wizard of Oz" actress Judy Garland because whenever he listened to her songs, he felt as if there was immense sadness in her voice and he finds that sort of tone to be "tragically beautiful."

Carney played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the ill-fated Broadway musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark" and told Vulture that even though the production was plagued with lawsuits, he considers it an "honor" to be associated with the show.

Carney also revealed that he kept a few souvenirs from the play as well, including some of Spider-Man\'s masks and a glove that was given to him by stuntman Chris Tierney after the poor man was injured in a very bad fall.

Carney Has Actually Read "The Picture Of Dorian Gray."

The handsome actor told The Backlot that after he auditioned for the role of Dorian on "Penny Dreadful," he went to a bookstore and picked up a copy of Oscar Wilde\'s "The Picture of Dorian Gray" because he wanted to familiarize himself with the story.

Vulture points out that Carney has been playing the guitar professionally ever since he was a teenager and even played rythym guitar in Johnny Lang\'s band when he was in his 20s as well.

However, even though the actor is hard at work on the set of "Penny Dreadful," Carney admits that he recorded a solo album and is still determined to make music whenever he finds the time.
