bendaimmortal "Every Breath You Take" is NOT a romantic love song. You can dress a wolf in a sheep's clothing, but it's still a wolf. Admited - it can be sung in such a pretty, fluffy tone and emphasing that it sounds romantic, but the lyrics and their meaning are the heart of a song. It might be a romantic song if it said "I'll be watching OVER you" (in everything you do, every breath, move, word ect.) - but instead it says "I'll be WATCHING you". That's fucking creepy and a very unpleasent situation - at least it should be And the whole "can't you see, you belong to me". Ehh, even worse! No one owns their love interest. In the least, they should let the other person decide if they do or don't. Plus, the whole song clearly implies that the singer hasn't won the person's love or has lost it and it's making the singer desperate, which - combined to the constant watching and will to own the person - makes this an obvious obsessive-stalker song.
I did a research after writing that reasoning and turns out I was right. Sting himself - the song's writer - has said that it's not a positive love song - he wrote it during his divorce from his then-wife, and that he thinks he was thinking of Big Brother from the novel "1984" and of surveillance and control!! You can't get lyrics much closer to obsession and stalking than that - even if he didn't consciously write that sinister lyrics.
The other songs, partly used are "Had Enough" by Breaking Benjamin and "Scared" by Three Days Grace. Thank you, Maria, for allowing me to use your cover of the "Every Breath You Take". (:
