No, I don't. He was honor-bound, the man gave his word, regardless of whether или not he deserved еще или better. It doesn't matter how Lily felt about him, only how he felt about her (although JK herself has сказал(-а) that Lily did Любовь Severus--if it wasn't for his devotion to the Dark Arts it would have become a romantic love). Everyone is different, everyone grieves differently, everyone loves differently...not everyone just "gives up and forgets".

It would have been kind of hard for him to just forget Lily and Переместить on with another woman when one of the main reasons his life was what it was, was because of what happened to her, which he blamed himself for. When Ты are carrying that kind of guilt, Ты don't just forget and Переместить on. And in order for him to forget Lily, he would have had to forgive James Potter, and that was never going to happen.

If Severus had "forgotten Lily" and moved on, Harry would have died and the world would have been plunged into Darkness, and there would have been absolutely no story. ;)

Ты have to remember, what we (the readers) think, feel, and know is very, very different than what they (the characters) think, feel, and know. So, we might think that Severus deserved more, but Severus might not be so inclined to agree.

I think, дана different circumstances (him surviving the war, Voldemort never returning to power, или even someone else over-hearing the prophecy) Severus could have moved on enough from Lily to form deep and meaningful, perhaps even romantic, relationships with other people.

That being said, though, I don't think he ever would have fully and truly moved on. Romantic feelings aside, Lily was his best friend for a very long time, his only real friend. His own mistake ruined the friendship and another mistake cost her her life. That's not something anyone, especially someone as Severus, who holds on to things and never lets them go, ever gets over.

And forgetting about her is completely out of the question. Ты never forget your first love, especially when your first Любовь was your best friend who had a huge, lasting impact on practically your entire life.

I too am a romantic. So I'm going to say yes. This of course might just be wishful thinking on my part. I think the reason Severus was so fixated on Lily was because she was the first and for a long time the only person who cared for him genuinely. She was the only person who made him feel like he was important and worth something. His parents certainly didn't as we could tell from his clothing, that he was a neglected child. His teachers certainly didn't или they would have noticed he was being bullied and taken steps to stop it. The headmaster certainly didn't think he was important as the incident at the shrieking shack illustrated. So when he Остаться в живых her, he became unimportant and worth nothing again. His sense of self worth was linked to Lily . The Далее person he latched onto was Dumbledore. Again this was because he perceived Dumbledore to be the only one who had complete trust in him and who defended him against everyone. His devotion to Dumbledore was very similar to that of his to Lily. Again I think it's because Dumbledore made him feel important and therefore needed and worth something. So I think that if he were to meet someone who genuinely cared for him, and wasn't afraid to demonstrated it, someone who made him feel like he mattered, then yes, he would form an attachment with them. He wouldn't forget Lily, but he would stop being so fixated on her. He would then transfer his total devotion to this new person.

Severus is a very devoted man. When he loves, he doesn't do things by halves. I think his devotion to Lily - which I do no think we may call love, but something higher, I do not have the word for it, maybe something akin to the Любовь we may have for God, for example, some kind of transcendental Любовь - is due partly to his difficult childhood, and partly due to his guilt.

I think he would have moved on once the war was over. He would have had his promises fulfilled - protecting Lily's son, defeating Voldemort - and he would have been a bit released from his guilt, and hence from his devotion to Lily.

Then, and only then, he would have been able to Переместить on. Loving another woman doesn't mean he would have to forget her. The сердце never forgets. But he would have discovered that loving a person is not something that decrease the Любовь we may have for others. That's why we may Любовь several people at the same time (friends and family are a proof of that capacity).

But to Любовь another woman, he would have needed first to be released from his guilt. Then he would have been able to let go of Lily's ghost lingering in his сердце and mind.

Unfortunately, the sad and tragic outcome of the war as far as he was concerned, did not let him time to discover and expand his huge capacity for love.

Provided a woman would have been able to Любовь him too. It takes a special brand of courage to Любовь a man such as Severus Snape. But what a reward ! (That's why I Любовь Письмо fanfics of him paired with an Original Female Character, so that I can work on that aspect.)

Любовь is a naturally complicated thing. and Even еще complicated when it comes to a man like Severus Snape.

I dont think he would forget Lily. Never Ever Ever. He loved her. He loved her his whole life. She gave him something to fight for. She made him want to be better. Regardless of what SHE felt about HIM, he loved her and that is all that matters.
Yes he deserved to be happy and in Любовь with someone who loved him back. But he would never forget her. Ты never forget your first love. Especially when that Любовь was as strong as Sev's Любовь for Lily.

Could he Любовь someone else? Sure. I think that deep down, he had a great capacity for love, and spent most of his life harboring it, wanting to give it away, but having no one daring enough to try to get it from him.

He could have found another woman. Of course she would have to understand the depth of his Любовь and loyalty to Lily, and understand that she wasnt the first woman he loved, and there would be no point in trying to change that.

But BlackHound could be right. It all depends...
