"Jumping the shark is a colloquialism used by TV critics and fans to denote that point in a TV show or movie series' history where the plot veers off into absurd story lines or out-of-the-ordinary characterizations. In the process of undergoing these changes, the TV or movie series loses its original appeal. Shows that have "jumped the shark" are typically deemed to have passed their peak. According to the theory, once a show has "Jumped the Shark" fans can designate the point of the show's perceived decline in overall quality with the "Jump the Shark" moment."

Myself Im a fan of Lost Seinfeld and My Name is Earl never really gotta into the X-Files while the others were before my time I have however completely lost in intrest in Prison Break its become worthless dribble and am only watching Heroes for the glory that i Kristen Bell

This show had a lot of JTS moments...the moment that did it for me was the Rachel/Joey hookup. Thankfully the creators realized their mistake and everything went back to normal.

Drew went into a coma , it got a bit weird from there including drew coming back to earth in a babys body
but i still love the earlier show

It was great up until season 3 in Sona, I just didn't like that season. I still watch it, but it is no where as good as it was in season 1.

i thought the definition of jumping the shark was doing something extreme to gain fans and since friends was having high ratings anyways it technically did do that
I also found the joey and Rachel storyline intriguing and a need growth of joey's character

the other shows i just have no comment on

I don't think Lost has jumped the shark but it is my favorite show. I would pick MASH but I refuse to believe that the show went on after Season 3. It didn't happen.

Because it literally jumped the shark!

Because it's the funniest out of all the choices.

I thought they jumped the shark around season 7 or the end of season 7 rather, but gosh I LOVE X-Files...:D
