Actually, I couldn't say, because I like both characters of every couple I ship, but I'm not sure if I wouldn't ship a couple in the case I dislike one of the characters. So I don't know...
I normally would much rather prefer it if I liked both of the characters, but I like Dan/Serena on Gossip Girl.
Love Dan, Hate Serena. :/
I think I just want Dan to be happy, and so I like him in the relationship, because it makes him happy. I don't know...
Absolutely. A good example for me would probably be Phoebe and Cole. While I really thought that Cole was interesting and charismatic, Phoebe just got on my nerves too much to really ship them.
Well... in some cases. Like I like Leyton a bit, even though I cant stand Peyton. But then again, I love Brucas, and thats probably because I like both of the characters. (Well I know Lucas gets really annoying in season 5, but I'm still on season 4!
So I guess it makes them more 'shippable'. For me atleast.
The thing is I don't ship couples that include characters I don't like. The only couples I care about combine my favourite characters, therefore more screentime for the characters I like. Pretty simple there!
I totally agree that usually I have to like both of them because if I dont usually I dont want them to be a couple because the character I DO like should be with someone better :) The only example I can think of right now of me not liking one of them is peyton/lucas. Lucas is pissing me off with his book crap. :(
Sometimes I completely hate a character but love them paired off with somebody. I just started season five of Smallville and while I find Clark bland (and I know we are in a Lana season) but when he's on screen with Lois there is a spark and I'm interested. I wasnt to hear the banter and see the little smirks. A favorite character, to me, is a character whom you support alone, just for the way they are, but in a ship you are supporting the way they sizzle and crackle when with eachother. It's possible to love a character and their ships, and it's possible to love a ship and not the character
whenever I like a couple it means I like both characters....if I dont like that character i probably dont like the couple...lol
for example i cant really like meredith and derek cause meredith get on my nerves!
but idk it probably depends on the person!
the couples i'm passionate about i like both characters, but sometimes i can like one of the characters and not the other. i can't deny it if they look good together or are good for each other.
I love Chase(House md) and like Cameron
I wouldn't like her that much if he didn't
And there are sometimes that I hate her,coz she has treated him so awful...I wanted to slap her(I still do)
