Was anybody else really confused as to why Bella was willing to die and spend the rest of eternity with him but not marry him and ... spend the rest of eternity with him?

I just always thought that it was strange.

I understand her aversion to marriage due to her parents marrying at a young age and being young in general but I was just always so confused by the fact that she was so willing to commit herself to Edward by dying and being with him forever but not marrying him.
