Who the heroes are:

First option - Link (Legend Of Zelda series)
Second option - Brendan (Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald)
Third option - Levant (Jade Cocoon)
Fourth option - Claude (GTA 3)
Fifth option - Ness (Earthbound)

All silent.

While we're on the subject, do you think that Mario classes as a silent protagnist? I mean, he has a very limited vocabulary.

Link has actually spoken, in Wind Waker he says "Come on!". He said it to, er.... what's-her-name.... the girl from the Rito tribe. But I still think of him as a silent protagonist, I mean, two words is hardly a vocab worthy of being called a speaking protagonist.

Mario would be in the same class as Link, although both spoke properly during their animated series'

but it really good cuz....you know it could change you whole view to the main peep like.....

link (as he probly the most famous...that was a gusse¬¬)

he's Meant to be the Heroic Person but he could have the really high pich vocie and be really chessey and we all seen link talk in the tv show and the really bad game thats ment to be zelda
and who could actly say the like what they saw!!!

in the tv show he a pedo! (which i find so funny XD)

and in the really bad game thats ment to be zelda he look's act and sound like a 13 year old girl!

and yet i want to know what going through his mind.....what his vocie sounds like and lots more but link would never talk unless you know if 1000's of people wanted him to talk....nintendo would prob's make him talk then but that would probly never happen

but I think it better if he dosent speak...but.....

if it works then fair enough. i prefer the Early FF games where they just used txt. i liked imagining the voices that'd suit :)

I like the ones where you can choose what to have the main character say to the other characters. Definitely the best. Really lets you have a hand in the character's interactions.

It really works out well with Wander from Shadow of the Colossus. Although he's not completely mute- he DOES mutter a couple of words in some fictional language.

It lets you really connect with the character and allows to feel as if you are that character. And it also allows you develop and personality for that character yourself.

I don't really care about that, as long as the character itself is pretty cool. Claude, for example.

When characters are given voices, it might make the game better, but it could also ruin whatever tradition that's behind the game. In LoZ, for example, giving Link a voice was a joke. I'd rather leave already mute characters the way they are. It gives you more of a personal insight of who that character is.

Knight_Sentinel picked I hate it, I'm sick of playing mute Герои:
I would like my character to have some personality, it's weird when people talk to them and at most all they do is nod or shake their head.

One of my favourite game protagonists is actually Lilli from "Edna and Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes". For those unfamiliar with the game, she's not completely mute, but because she is so timid she can barely get out one syllable every time she attempts to talk to a character. Then, in the first chapter of the game, you go on an accidental murdering spree. I think her lack of dialogue makes her character all the more mysterious and dangerous, all the while still being sympathetic.

Other actual mute protagonists (like Link and Chell) - it just suits them, because they made it suit them. Sometimes they come across clueless or stubborn, and fearless too.

Although I wouldn't want too many mute protagonists. For the most part, my favourite characters tend to have oodles of personality and a lot of that is displayed through their dialogue and interactions with other characters. Mute characters can have a certain charm to them, but I do like a protagonist with a strong, definite personality.
