Short chapter is short.
Harley walked out the infirmary, glancing back warily inside as she made her way to the living area. When the occupants saw her, a couple sat up straighter, hoping for some good information. A small smile spread across her face as she said, “She’ll live.”
Ariel sighed in relief, as did many others, while Fang nodded once, the ghost of a smile on his lips. Revenge stood as Rene came into the room, all seriousness. “There’s a small problem, though,” she murmured into her hand.
“What kind of problem?” Tanner asked, concerned. Eric watched Rene closely, while Delta took small sips of water silently.
“She doesn’t exactly want to wake up.”
Ciel looked at her. “What does that mean?”
“Something in her conscious doesn’t want to wake her up. She’s too afraid или reluctant of.. of something to get up from her coma. If something doesn’t shock her out of it, she’ll stay there. For as long as she lives.”
“But.. that could be...” Eric looked down, then got off the диван, мягкий уголок quickly, marching into the infirmary. No one followed him, only looking down at their feet. Aisling leaned into the Rowan and started to cry softly.
He slowed when he walked into the room, looking down at her where she lay in the cot. Sitting on the edge, he looked down at Kyra, who stayed peacefully asleep. Brushing her bangs from her face, his fingers dwindled on the streak of metallic color that had appeared from his last seeing her.
“This is my fault, isn’t it?” His hand rested on the bandages that adorned her forearms. “That promise... Ты don’t want to face me.”
He kissed her cheek softly. “It’s alright. I’m not mad at Ты for this, okay? I’m really not. But I can’t wait for Ты to wake up. I need Ты to wake up. Please...”
“Eric...”
He looked up. Delta leaned against the door, watching sadly. “She will wake up. We’ll make sure of that.”
He nodded as the others flooded in. Aisling sat near Kyra and inspected her slightly, her eyes kind of puffy from crying. “She will wake up. It may take a while, but we’ll get her up.”
“How?” Ciel asked. “It’s not like she can hear us.”
“Just the opposite,” Harley informed. “She knows what’s going on around her. She’s actually fully conscious. She can hear, smell, taste and feel, but she can’t see или talk because she’s restraining herself.”
“Maybe we could reach her through something she loves,” Ariel thought out loud. “Like... like..”
“Like music?” Fang remarked.
“Exactly! Music! If we can find the right songs, we can wake her up, I bet,” Tanner exclaimed.
Revenge crossed his arms. “So it’s settled. We’re getting her up... through music...”
“Yeah,” Eric and Delta sighed together. “Yeah.”
