These "teenage girls" are kept in fact cybernetic organisms kept in a government facility that are unleashed in an attempt to take over the world. They tried it before in the 90's with Titanic. Now it's Twilight's turn. The 'things' become sentient whenever a fangirl franchise is being created, which is why they don't remember anything before Twilight. The Twilight is their power source.
