    Chapter 6
        Obviously, high school is not kind
    “Well, your sister was obviously lying about the yoga classes,” Cadence stated and I gave him a scorching glare.
    “Obviously she was,” I snapped.
    He held up his hands in surrender. “Calm down cupcake, stuff like this happens, your going to have to brace yourself for the truth and forget all the lies.”
    I shrugged as I turned back to Rob, “what did they do, exactly?”
    “Barely anything,” Rob scratched his chin. “Always in that darn boat, and when they did something it would usually lead to calling the police, extreme pranksters they were.”
    “Pranksters? Police? What did they do?” I asked, feeling horrified at this other side of a nice sweet girl I adored.
    Rob’s face was grim. “There was many, but the most notorious and infamous prank was the alligator.”
    I gulped and Cadence awkwardly cleared his throat, “alligator?”
    “They were having some party, where some kids entered looking like they just saw God and all his glory.”
    “The party prank,” I mumbled, realization dawning. “In my school there was always this ultimate party, that everyone wanted to attend, but it was invitation only. And the Популярное crowd would hand them out. It happened about every three years. I was in the tenth grade-”
    “What grade now?” Cadence cut through.
    “Eleventh, but last year, me and my Друзья wanted to go so badly, but we weren’t invited. The party was at Mary Sutton’s house, one of our Друзья sneaked in, she сказал(-а) it was horrible. The people who were invited were all excited, feeling Популярное and special.” I closed my eyes, wincing.
    “Then what?” Cadence prodded gently.
    “My friend told me they were herded into the center of the living room, humiliated. The ‘popular’ people insulted them and hurt their feelings, then they started trashing the house and getting wild. So, the police came in, but most of people who were invited, the innocent people, were arrested. But they were released earlier.”
    “So these stuck up snobs invite unsuspecting butt kissers to embarrass and humiliate them, and then get them in trouble?” Rob asked, a disgusted look on his face.
    “Pretty much,” I replied.
    “Well, your story is kind of similar to what happened. They were partying on that yacht, I bet Ты they were drinking. Then they pushed some kid in the water, and she started freaking out because she saw the alligator. Someone close heard and called the police immediately. The poor girl was traumatized, but she was alive. The kids who pushed her сказал(-а) they didn’t know there was an alligator, another сказал(-а) it was a vegetarian.”
    “High school kids,” Cadence shook his head.
    “So, your saying my sister was a part of that?” I asked, not believing for one секунда that she would do such a thing.
    “I’m not saying, I’m telling.” Rob told me, assuredly.
    I think of my dreams, of her drowning, of that other person drowning. What if my sister messed with the wrong person? What if she pushed someone over the edge?
    What if she made someone so angry, that they killed her?
    And whoever did is still out there, who knows, they could be anyone, anywhere, anytime.
