ravissa I don't hate her but I really thinks that Orihime is kindda weak and a cry baby, she' s allways talking about Ichigo and that is so annoying, but I guess ur right about one think ; hating Orihime is bad, but still she is soo anoying

unohana the reason she talks about ichigo is because she loves him. The reason why she cries is because she is human. Humans have feelings. Plus she is a girl most girls cry twice as much as orihime.

ivoryphills Well, to be honest, I truly believe that she was pretty much drawn for eye-candy. I mean, I know she's intelligent, strong-willed, and invaluable to the team as a healer, but she does seem like the flimsy, crying type who can only cry "Ichigo! Oh, Ichigo!" when's she's in danger. Look at Rukia, for example: she's intelligent, strong-willed, and invaluable to the team as a fighter and sort of mentor (and she's beautiful; beauty has nothing to do with a girl's worth, but I just wanted to add it to her list of qualities) but when she was taken away by her brother and Renji to be executed, she didn't call for Ichigo or anyone to save her; in fact, she wanted Ichigo to surrender and let her get killed for her "sin". And in battle, she doesn't cry, she might be afraid as would anyone would feel facing the possibility of death, but she swallows her fear and prepares to go all out in the battlefield, risking her life to save her friends and to win for humanity. And there's Yoruichi: she dispels the myths that women are weak princesses and that women with big breasts are dumb with her amazing fighting skills, strength, and cat-like cunning. Orihime? As intelligent and strong-willed as she is, she's not a fighter and how she was presented makes her the crybaby woman that a lot of Bleach fans love to hate.

yemi_hikari I agree with you on the fact that Orihime is not a “poor and underdeveloped” character. I don't agree that her ending up in the top ten in the first poll or the fact she is in the manga proves that she is not a “poor underdeveloped” character because it is possible to have a character who is underdeveloped be popular and in a story. Take Bella Swan for example, she is popular, has a lot of fans and she is in the story. Actually, she is the main character of Twilight. As for the whole issue of whether or not Orihime is annoying or not, the fact she keeps saying “Kurosaki-kun” counts as evidence because the show is originally in Japanese and not English, not to mention the characters speak Japanese and not English. However, I do agree that people should give more evidence as to why she is annoying. The fact she cries a lot though can be seen as evidence as to why someone finds her annoying. Sure, people do cry a lot, but there is a difference between the scene where Karin cries over the poor boy stuck in the bird and the times Orihime cries. The problem isn't so much that she cries, but that she cries because of self pity. I'm also going to point out the fact that Orihime killing the Hollow the first time doesn't count because she saw Hollows as mindless zombies of their former selves, but she learned differently later one. She also struggled with Hollows later on, while Rukia had no problems at all. She also has doubts about her own powers and she struggles with healing people at times. Her weakness is what makes her such a wonderful character though.

MyBlueDragon @yemi_hikari i totally agree with u, i really can't understand y ppl hate her. saying Kurosaki-kun, how is that annoying? ppl decide to hate her & search for things to get annoyed of. and fyi, i would also cry if my friends were threatened to death every single day. please don't compare her to Rukia, who btw is one of my fav characters, 'cuz everyone can't be strong. if that was the case the whole series would get annoying, having only strong and powerful characters which seems to have no weak points at all.
