Damon & Elena Article: It's holding on and letting go.

Ok,I have been standing nearly 20 минуты staring at my laptop because I did not know how to begin.Still don't know.What can someone say about last night's episode?All the moments even the non-Delena related were flawless.But I don't want to bother Ты with my feelings for every little scene.

First,let's talk Katherine who сказал(-а) openly what every Delena Фан has been saying for months.Stefan wants human Elena.Not vampire Elena.He loves her humanity,he doesn't feel the same way about her now that she is a vampire allthought,to be fair,he truly tries to.And let's have in mind that it wasn't really Katherine it was Elena's subconscious saying those things which means that Elena had understood at some level Stefan's inner thoughts hence all the secrets and the effort to not make him see her as a vampire.It is ironic really.By letting Elena die,Stefan Остаться в живых her.Because the Elena he loved,human Elena, really died on that bridge.Her last act was telling him that she choose him and then she died.Vampire Elena was born.She is not the same person,she sees the world differently she sees that she actually has еще in common with Damon now she doesn't have to worry about her safety,she is strong enough to protect herself.Let me state here that I think that this is who Elena was supposed to be if not for the accident.We already saw a glimpse of her that night when she and Damon met.So is not Актёрское искусство out of character she is actually re-discovering her character.It makes me wonder if Stefan would fall on Любовь with this girl even when she was human.It is not secret that I dont like Stefan as a character but I have to admit that be breaking up with her he did the right thing.No guy should stay with a woman who he knows has feelings for someone else,let alone his brother.For a character with self-respect issues,Stefan some some in this episode.I liked that.In fact this whole scene was very well played.

Damon.What can one say about him?In the beginning he could take advantage of Elena calling only him but did he?No.Not even he called Stefan but he kept on insisting that she could call him.Frankly in the entire episode the person fighting the strongest for the SE relationship was Damon!He did not want his brother to lose the girl.Which he once again proved in the bedroom scene which,I think is going to become one of the most viewed DE scenes.
First of all,that scene is actually the opposite of the bedroom scene in 3x02 in which Damon says one of my personal избранное Цитаты "Because when I drag my brother from the edge I want Ты to remember the things Ты felt when he was gone".There he pushes her to admit her feelings for him.Here he pushes her to suppress them.he has understood that things are not good between her and Stefan and by her not calling him and by Stefan asking him to find her.And being the selfless person he is,he is trying to fix things when Ты can see it is killing him.Elena reaches for his hand and does not let go and he talks about Stefan.She sees him and smiles,the look on her face when she says "You saved me" is one of pure adoration and he explains about the cure for her not to be mad at Stefan.Because Damon is right.Stefan is her boyfriend.He SHOULD be the one with her on that bridge and in that room.But Elena does not even seem to care.She is only concentrated in Damon.That is something he waited for so long and one sees the struggle and the pain it takes him to do the "right thing".But he does it.Because he respects her decision and is ok to be the one left out if that means that Elena and Stefan are happy.This scene was pure perfection.it demonstrated the start of Elena accepting and kind of Актёрское искусство on her feelings and Damon saying no(which I think is going to be a plotline for some time but I don't mind-let her chase him for a change-).The hand-holding,the expressions the self-sacrifice,the symbolism of Damon being the one to return the ring(a ring that Stefan gave her and Elena symbolically dropped)this scene had it all.Congratulations are in order for the writers.It was not sexual,as many accuse DE only being,it was human and emotional.

And it proves that we were right by saying that Elena was right to choose Stefan.Se needed to see for herself with Stefan her boyfriend that she can not shake her feelings for Damon,if not we would see the same break-up scene but with Damon being on Stefan's place.I am not saying that everything is going to go smoothly from now on.No.It is still going to be a difficult road with many obstacles but it is worth it.DE;s journey is worth it all.So buckle your сиденье, место, сиденья belts because it has just officially started.An the best are yet to come.

Probably one of the biggest reasons why he was attracted to her in the first place (other than being a dead ringer for Kat), was her humanity. Being with her made him feel less like a vampire and more like a human. "By letting Elena die, Stefan lost her." It sure is ironic that by respecting her choice and letting her have her own way, he lost the human girl he loved in the process. I have also thought that when Elena died that night, SE 'died' symbolically. "Her last act was telling him she chose him and then she died." I thought that 4x01 was mind-numbingly cheeSE-packed, but I also knew it would only go downhill for them from there, that that episode was as good as it would get for them, and I was right. The parallels between 4x06 and 3x02 never occurred to me until now. You're right. Loved what you said about Damon. He is so selfless in his love for Elena and his brother. He could have used the weaknesses in SE's relationship as a way in, but he didn't. He kept defending Stefan's corner at every opportunity and I love that about him. It's unlikely Stefan would do the same for Damon. He has continually put Damon down. I never agreed with Elena's choice in 3x22. I thought she chose Stefan for all the wrong reasons. Her logic was flawed. I knew the day would come when her choice would bite her from behind, and even now, I still think she was wrong for choosing Stefan. But I also know that at that time, Elena was not quite ready for a relationship with Damon because she wasn't being 100% truthful with herself about her feelings for him. She admitted to Matt that Damon 'consumed' her, but it still felt like she was hiding under a blanket or something. While I'm glad that she finally figured things out, I don't know why she had to go back to Stefan before she realised the enormity of her feelings for Damon. I guess it makes sense, but if her feelings 'consumed' her as a human...why go back to Stefan?? I can see why people would say it was right for Elena to resume her relationship with Stefan, if it meant her realising she couldn't shake her feelings for Damon, but this is basically what SE'ers have been saying about Damon/DE in reverse. That SE are soul mates, but it takes Elena to get together with Damon before she figures out she really belongs with Stefan. That argument always struck me as being very superficial. I could say a lot more about this, but it doesn't really matter now. SE should have had 'The Talk' last season. But they weren't ready. I can't help feeling that what we saw was the conclusion that was missing from S3, and the beginning of the love triangle for real.

ivybelle omg!! this article made me cry!! so beautifully put! all those things you said about Damon are sooo true. the bedroom scene makes me cry just thinking about it. you love him for doing it but at the same time hated the fact that he had to do it. the world (SE included) FINALLY saw how selfless Damon can be. he doesn't care who she ends up with as long as she's happy and safe.

eve_k @iviibelle thank you!!So glad you liked it!:-) @delenasalvatore Thank you!!Your appreciation means a lot.I agree with you.It is superficial if Elena needs to be with Stefan,in order to understand her feelings for Damon.The reason I think that is was the right decision is not this one,but the guilt.Had Elena chose Damon she would always feel guilty that while Stefan had been with her and helped her overcome her parents death,she did not treat him right.She chose his brother.Elena felt she owed him and she needed to "repay the debt".Had she chosen Damon there would a lot of conflict for Stefan,Elena would always feel indebted and a break-up would certainly follow but for all the wrong reasons.Whereas now,that reason is non-existent.Elena paid her debt.Moreover she saw that Stefan does not accept the new her,he is clinging to human Elena,and by that does not loves all of her,but loves her only under his terms,his idea of "who Elena should be"(he has already stated as much to Damon).I am not supporting that when DE are together a break-up won't happen or that Stefan related issues will be non-existent but at least the "what if I had given him another chance" will not be an issue.She has.And it epically failed (as we know it would).So we are free of,at least, that.

"I Do" Scene Analysis of DE in 2x22

Before Season 2 drew to a close, it had not been particularly DE (or indeed, Любовь triangle) friendly. Instead, the writers chose to do the unthinkable, and throw the треугольник right off its tracks, slowing the development of DE's relationship right down until Ты began to wonder if it was moving anywhere at all. But all the anguish, blood, sweat and tears DE went through (not to mention the fans), were worth it. It made the finale even еще rewarding in the end. I know that some DE shippers think that 2x21 was the turning point we'd been waiting for, but for me, the finale was the turning point...
