I don't see why not - they probably would've had the same personalities! I'm neutral with the visual side of their designs (and besides, personality matters much more to me). :)

I really like Pinkie's, Twilight's, Rainbow's and Rarity's original designs. Fluttershy's appearance really hasn't changed that much and Applejack is still Applejack! XD
